That's a popular misconception. You build a tolerance to spicy things but you don't lose the ability to taste. The spiciness adds something very valuable to the experience.
For example, I know people who don't eat pepperoni on pizza because it's too spicy. I cannot discern spiciness in pepperoni, but I still love pepperoni. I still love the classic pepperoni & cheese pizza.
And I didn't always like spicy stuff, I used to avoid spicy things. When I became a man I let go of childish things, such as being afraid of spicy things.
