do we need 2?

Yes 2 would be nice,it would cut down on AMD vs INTEL threads.

Also I would not have to sift through amd threads if I am interested in Intel or vice versa.

I have mixed results!!! As much as I would like not seeing all the AMD vs INtel threads, and the bashing threads that start out disguised as a thread asking technical questions when the author doesn't listen to comments presented and ultimately goes with his preconceived notions.....I think the one open forum is fine for now....

I think we need a memory forum to get most of those threads out of here...I also think if most ppl would put the thread in the right forum things wouldn't be as congested....

Maybe just and ocing forum all by itself and leave the cpu/processor forum to talk about plain jane cpu stuff , price cuts, and new product...

I voted against it, as I really don't think there is too much confusion. While I don't own a P4, I like being able to read about your ridiculous overclocks in the same place I read about Shimmishim's. I really don't notice any flame wars. This place is nothing like what Tom's forum was like in the late 90s. Yikes.

I agree, something needs to be done, good info gets lost too quickly and reposted questions are killing this room...

imo, no. however, i do agree that lots and valueble info gets bogged down fast
so, imo, we should start 2 threads, one for amd and one for intel and try to put as much info on those 2 threads and make it a sticky. we'll update it often with the latest info. That's my suggestion

a very good suggestion

could be made in a FAQ format answering all the latest n00bie questions.

The problem I see with that is how far is someone willing to search thru it? If someone comes with a question, and sees the thread with 500+ replies, do you think they'll look thru it or just start a thread like they do now? I still think the best option is a seperate room with stickied threads on the most important issues...IMHO...

Here's a question....how do you solve the "What should I buy?" threads? That's one thing that totally chokes every forum, one after another, all of which could be condensed into maybe 3-4 threads. How do you deal with the fact that no one is willing to do a bit of browsing or searching, they'd rather just throw a thread up asking "Should I buy a 2.4 or a 2.53?" or "Should I buy Canterwood or wait for Dogwood ?", which was asked 3 threads down...

i agree, maybe we should ask the mods to lock it too so that we can add info from time to time and add on to what we have missed in the past as not to clutter the thread. or we can just update the thread when someone asks a question that is not listed in the opening post.

we can never be able to answer all questions, but i think with the 2 new threads, we should be able to cut down the amount of questions like "Why is my Athlon XP 2100+ running at 1500+? or How do I overclock my Intel chip?I have an Intel mobo.(yes, i do read Intel threads, only that I'm too poor to get one)"

I've already commented on this in the FI thread, but so everyone will see my opinion I'll repeat it here. There see to be good reasons to back up Thugsrook's request, and some of the alternatives some have brought up are equally reasonable. However, I see a problem with it. Someone will have to sort through all the current and archived threads and move part of the threads to one of the new catagories while the rest are placed in the other. I doubt that Zuni or the Mods will welcome that responsibility. However if one of you were to volunteer to do this, then you might have a chance. Everyone but Thugsrook, please take one step back. Peace.

i do enough work around here......

here's how i see it right now:
the review threads will most likely diminish if they arent givin a better place to be posted.

What about a "User Reviews" forum. As I understand this debate, that would accomplish the same end, just in a slightly different way. Of course, there would have to be certain forum rules, such as no flame wars and others that could be determined. Would you care to comment on this suggestion TR, or anyone else for that matter?

tossing all this "trash" in the same room just aint cutting it no more.

i personally dont care what reason they use to give us another room.....

PLain and simple Ocing needs to be separated from cpu....AMD and INtel split aside just accomplish that and that would help tremendously....ppl are throwing in ocing vid cards, memory, etc and that is cluttering us up as well....The ocing thread can at least accomplish the need for a forum dedicated to ocing anything and everything!!!

Just because YOU don't care doesn't make it clutter. One person's trash is another person's treasure.
The video, memory, etc.... you complain about is an integral part of CPU support and performance. If you separate this, you get nothing but a VERY
boreing thread regurgitating spec. sheets for processors. We can read these at the Intel and AMD websites. This forum should be a place to discuss
and compare the USAGE of CPUs and that requires addressing the system as a whole.

These efforts to stifle opinions, and structure threads to tilt the discussion in one favor or another are ridiculous!
If anyone can't handle seeing a differing point of view, they should be reading spec. sheets.... not forums.

As if AT really cares what we have to say, just look at that crappy banner ad on the left hand side.

It's not about fun for them anymore it's all about the money for them now.:disgust:

And I'd like to take this opportunity to applaud AT for their show of support for the members that have made AT what it is by joining in this discussion and all the other times they've showed their support....oh wait, that's a different forum.....sorry...:disgust:
