Obama was a moderate, it didn't help, not sure why anyone would think it would now.

Your double standard is showing, as always. The Trump admin is a giant sucking fascist whirlpool. I merely mention it because you apparently haven't noticed.
Good thing I didn’t vote for him. I also don’t suffer from TDS, so fascism not found.

Right, but never a requirement for the GOP. Only Democrats.
You have to earn votes. I haven’t voted for a GOP candidate, save for a few governors and mayors, since Bush sent us into Iraq. I would vote for Sanders. I would vote for Bloomberg. I wouldn’t vote for Biden.

Well then enjoy the show as the GOP torpedoes our country.

Define a Moderate... as in protector of the status quo?
Is a person extreme because they want to enact a meaningful change in this country?
What if that change is merely an effort to HELP people who so desperately need helping?

It is not extreme to want to end trickle down Reaganomics. It is not extreme to protect our people from automation. Yet both require a policy solution, and IMO, that solution is Basic Income. A 25% tax to ensure economic stability for everyone. My want of this, and my solution means I am further "left" than Sanders.

Is helping people extreme and NOT what this country needs right now?

Too busy enjoying the circular firing squad in the Sanders and Bloomberg threads.
Yes, infinitely more important than silly government decisions or holding our leaders accountable for their actions. I hear The Masked Singer is also very entertaining.

Why? Biden is a milquetoast joke of a candidate well past his shelf life but literally any of the original 20 DNC lineup is a better option than what we have now.

I think the culture war we've fought amongst ourselves since the postwar is coming to a climax, and that explains the ever widening fracture. I don't know if it'll come this year or rage on into the future, but I just get the impression things are coming to a head.

A truly moderate president is difficult to imagine in this environment.
Bernie's viability is a symptom of how bad things have gotten and that conservatives don't realize this and are doubling down on the robber baron playbook has made a huge progressive blowback invevitable. Just a question of how long they can hold it off. Or conservatives have realized this and that's why they've gotten so extreme in their tactics.

At the end of the day people don't pick their candidates due to their positions. If the GOP suddenly decided to double medicare spending tomorrow, you think they'd lose GOP voters? They wouldn't lose a single one: their supporters would simply justify it as the GOP position all along. Trump was anti middle east interference and won. Now he's super into interfering with the middle east and his people still love him. Politics isn't rational.

People pick their candidates based on who they like, not their actual political positions. So go with the likeable guy and don't be afraid that he won't "get things done" because many centrists just aren't that likeable and won't get people to the polls.

Hmm, too bad we can't outlaw Fox - it would be a good start to mending the country.

Sarcasm meter broken?
Any other "free speech" you disagree with? I bet China has plenty of openings for speech moderators.

If we let the Progressheviks have a whirl, they will tax and "tolerate" everyone, except themselves of course, into the ground and force out the legal citizens.

Show me an independent and I'll show you the blue person from Neptune that hides in my basement.
I like to think I'm an independent. For instance I call myself a capitalist socialist. I want to tax the rich, but I want a loophole where they can hire middle-class Americans instead of paying that tax.

I just don't know how to connect with Republicans anymore. When they don't believe a common source of news, and they don't believe scientists, there's just no common ground upon which to discuss anything.

But maybe I'm not an independent. Maybe I'm just one of those people from Neptune. This whole situation is making me feel pretty blue.

A bit underhanded from you brandon, because the president outright stated his intention to amend libel laws, defends every individual act with 'lugenpresse', called for a literal state television that doesn't push back like Fox News. A lot of right-wing handwringing about free speech in the US seems malicious because of your need to discredit the media and regulate speech for your own benefit, you are not true conservatives in the classical sense
