It freaked me out enough so that I never used on again. I know for a fact that the person that held a finger on the piece didn't spell it one purpose b/c I had her turn her head, while it shifted... of course she thinks that I spelled it on purpose and so do the others that were watching.

I tend to believe it a lot of things though - ghosts, spirits, God, etc. So maybe it's just me.

...and the world ended in '95?

Myself being a believer in the Bible, and thus the spiritual realm, knows that Ouija board in and of itself is nothing more than cardboard and plastic. However, its physical properties have nothing to do with the fact that it is meant to bring its users into contact with the spirit world whether or not the users or its creators actually believe it or not; and I do believe that Ouija boards can be manipulated by spirits.

So true. If you give a spirit grounds to manifest they just might do that. That is how it is in places like Africa, the Philippines, India, etc.. The people there have an awareness of the spiritual realm, therefore they see many manifestations. Especially when they are *trying* to get manifestations. Look at witch-doctors, people who openly worship demons, and other occultic religions/cults. I know from personal experience the reality of the spiritual, and more often than not, it is just the means of the manifestation that will allow it.

If a bird has no place to land, it has to keep on flying until it finds a place. So if the ground is covered by water, and even the trees are, if you are a bird, you have to fly until you have a place to land. Same with demons, if there is no grounds for them to manifest, they can't manifest.

You don't have to believe me. I'm sure most of you wont, and that isn't really the point of the post. There are a few people who have seen into the spiritual realm, dealt with demon possessed people, or have even been demon possessed themselves. They know who they are, and information about not allowing manifestation can be very useful.

No, because every time I used one, I cheated, and everyone thought that it was the magic or whatever.

Oh here we go...

There was another HUGE thread about Ouija boards a year ago here. I am a VERY curious person in nature and I'm a passionate-christian-turned-agnostic with great skeptics on things.

After reading the thread, I contacted one of the members who took the board VERY SERIOUSLY and claimed to have contacted the spirits on numerous occasions, complete with the centerpiece moving, walls shaking and other phenomenons. I contacted him privately regarding how I wanted to have an open mind and really experience it. He wrote me looooooong step by step procedures and instructed me everything from having the right open mentality to finest details.

Well armed with that, I got two of my other buddies to try it with me. I followed everything carefully. I even crafted my own board to its authenticity.

We went up to the UNFINISHED attic upstairs with no lights on. We did the whole 'invitation prayer' and started to go at it. Nothing happened. I was frustrated with one point and yelled, "IS ANYONE OUT THERE? WTF?"

In the middle of the game, I downright invited satan himself. I even wrote on the board, "May the Devil dwell here." Nothing happened.

We left feeling frustrated and silly for taking all this seriously- a bunch of 24 year olds who played this game 10 years too late.

Come on now. This is all a joke. I think that member was bit of a closet-case nut.

Only reason I'd use them is to weed out potential girlfriends. If they believe in that crap, they get dumped.

No, that's when you rig the board/piece with magnets to answer "Yes" and "No" at the proper time.

Girl: "Should I sleep with txrandom?"
Board: "Yes."
Girl: "Wow! Should I bring my friend over and have her join in?"
Board: "Yes."
Girl: "Should I turn the video camera off?"
Board: "No."

the secret is the magnets in the board. go purchase one at your local toys r us

There are no magnets in ouija boards. At least not in any that I've seen.

Correct, ouija boards are made of wood...and wood floats so I guess the next thing to do would be to weigh the ouija board and see if it weighs the same as a duck!

An interesting topic...

Ok, I'm not sure exactly how to say what I want to say on the subject. I don't believe that you actually talk to ghosts or spirits or whatever you do with them, but they do work somehow. Several of my friends and I thought it would be fun to try one of these out, so we bought one. At first, nothing happened because you have to be kinda serious about it working in order for it to do anything. We were laughing and joking about it. Then we decided to be open-minded about it and try it for real. We didn't do any ritual prayer seance crap, just stopped joking around and got serious about it. I'll be damned if it didn't start working. What that means exactly, I'm not sure, but it started spelling things out. I think we started by asking if there was anyone that would speak to us and varying the amount of pressure on the pointer (not in the sense of pushing it around, just how lightly we laid fingers on it). We "talked" to this guy that was a college student that had been murdered with an axe. We asked several questions of this person and most were answered. We tried staying with yes/no questions or questions with single word answers cuz it takes forever for spelled out answers. I wish I could remember all of the details about the questions and answers and the name we got, but I can't. There was even one point when we asked a question and the answer we got caused both of us to take our hands of the pointer and look at each other like "WTF?!" Another we "talked" to was a 5 year old kid that had been killed by his father. He couldn't spell worth a crap so it was hard to communicate.

After it started working that first time, others wanted to try it out. I know for a fact that I wasn't consciously pushing the thing around and everyone else that did this stated the same. I'd find it hard to believe that everytime I paired up with someone else that they were the ones doing the moving. We got into serious talks about that during and after messing with the board.

I think that the subconscious is likely what makes these things do what they do, but it's still strange. If it's subconscious, where did these names come from? I'd never heard of them that I recall. Where did these details come from? Why these methods of death? Pretty crazy stuff that's kinda cool and creepy at the same time.

Oh yeah, I ended up throwing it away some time later and I didn't die.
