Fantasy novelist. But I have no original ideas yet (unlike Erikson!) and god help me I'm not releasing yet another tolkien clone.

I cannot imagine myself loving my job. I'm sure there is something out there I would love to do, but I have no idea what it is. I'd be happy just finding a job that didn't make me hate Sundays and dread Mondays. Then again, they say if it was fun, they wouldn't call it work.

I'm pretty darn happy with my current job, but I have thought of this scenario also.

Say you won the lottery, money is no object but you were just bored and wanted to work for 'fun'.

I suppose there are some decent volunteer type things that could be fun.

I thought being a proof reader of novels would be decent, but I imagine you would get stuck reading some crappy material half the time.

There are some other things like test pilot or race car driver but if I had the skill to be doing that... I would be doing it already.

I think at this point my best prospect is car porter. My friends retired father does this and drives nice cars back and forth between Milw and Chicago all day.

LOL, do you have the whole thing written out? I'd like to read it. (I'm being serious).

Realistic jobs: CTO of a company or a very high level manager for network administration

Unrealistic jobs: One of the founders of Google, owner of playboy/penthouse/etc, or a good investment banker

There is not a job out there that you can love. Finding "the job for you!" is just a marketing scheme to keep recruiters in business.

I'd make stuff and tinker with things.

I like to build/make/improve/fix things.

Same job I have now with the same salary only on Marathon Key instead of where I live now.

I don't know, and I'd be wary to try. Thus far, I wind up disliking anything associated with a job or an ongoing unpleasant experience.

Spaghetti: I ate it often while in a campus apartment. Now I can hardly stand it.
I also had it for lunch while working summers at a warehouse.

Walmart: Chef Boyardee pasta products and yogurt for lunch. I don't care for either anymore.

Temp job assembling and deploying computers in a school: I lost all interest in tinkering in my computer's guts. Now I put off any job that involves opening the case.

I'd be wary of having a job involving something I "like," as that thing might wind up becoming effectively poisoned, and my interests are pretty limited as it is.

Thank goodness. I have not watched one episode this season and still have to finish the finale from last season!

How long until the new episodes start again?

Painting the swimsuits on the models who wear nothing but paint.

Or the massage oil boy from the end of Dumb and Dumber.

Heh, I used to do this, actually. $10/hr to screen submissions from first time novelists to a literary agent. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Some good stuff, LOTS of mediocre stuff, and the occasional spectacularly bad stuff. It's more fun than proof reading, which I've also done. Then you spend more time paying attention to the nitpicky stuff than the story.
