I bowl once every 5-10 years on average. How's that fit into your survey?

I took a bowling class in college too, and my average also went up by 40 points. The main thing that helped me was the realization that the arrows on the lanes are useful for aiming.
I also learned to throw a curve, but I can't pick up a spare with a curve so I straight bowl. Switching back and forth doesn't work too well.

well seeing as bowling with a hook on your first shot and straight for spares is the best way to do it, and used by pretty much any pro bowler I've ever seen, you might want to give the 2 styled approach another chance. hook on the 1st ball...as straight as you can, and as hard as you can for spares...
yes, i bowl...
