depends, but most of the time no, sizes vary too much, even between the same manufacturer.

This is another reason why I still do most of my clothes shopping at &M stores. A lot of times there's terrible consistency; for examle, I'll go to try on a pair of jeans that are identical in size and cut to a pair I have, but for some reason the new pair doesn't fit the same (shorter/longer, too slim/baggy around the thighs, etc. etc.)

I buy ALL my clothes online. Everything from pants to shirts, socks to underwear, and shoes as well. It's easy because I know my size and what will fit.

I have always hated shopping for clothes at the store because, (A) They rarely have anything I like, and (B) They never have anything in my size.

Stores seem to only stock clothing sizes for fat people. :\

Quoted for truth. Not sure if you ever go to woodfield, but even there, one of the largest malls in the US, it can be a royal pain in the ass if you're "mannequin size" as i've been told in the past. :\

This is why I do a lot of my online shopping custom made (modern tailor, for example), or at places with super easy returns (bonobos for example, who sends you a prepaid return slip in the box it came with, free shipping both ways).

Much easier for me to put something in the mailbox to send back as opposed to messing around in stores for hours when I should be relaxing.

No poll?

My wife tends to buy most of my clothes, and she usually does it on line. It's pretty easy because I'm almost always in jeans and a polo or t-shirt.

i buy shoes *only* if the website has a detailed section on measurements, with cm/inch specifics and EU/US/UK tables. if they just have "size" next to teh models, no.

Happened to me with a pair of Diesel jeans. I guess they're all hand made so they all vary in size. Good thing Diesel allowed me to exchange their jeans that I bought from Amazon in store.

For jeans and shoes I almost always end up buying online. It isn't worth trying to find clothes that fit my scrawny self in stores.

Although I cannot be 110% certain, I think 2013 the wife and I spent more money online than in retail. I would also say this is true for clothing. The wife discovered Hautelook a few months back, tried them with great success and is hooked. This is owned by Nordstrom. Amazon has Zillow, which I recently let the wife know of, and then we both discovered (thanks to 60 Minutes) their Myhabit.com store.

If retailers thought the elimination of Internet sales tax exemption would benefit them then they are wrong. Wife paid $2700 for a camera body for me from Amazon. She paid the local-rate sales tax, but she saved $600 on the body over what every local retailer wanted.

hellz to the yes. socks, underwear and t-shirts. and sneakers. i've only had to return one pair of sneaks for a poor fit.

i started wearing champion performance tech boxer briefs last year. after ages wearing cotton boxer briefs. it changed my life. if you do not go to Amazon right now and buy Champion Performance Tech underwear you will be missing out on an enhanced chapter of your underwear wearing life.

but seriously, it's that much better than cotton.

So I finally took the plunge and ordered some of these, in the LONG version (my thighs are decently big from working out (humblebrag, yes), and the regular 6" always ride up eventually). Holy crap you weren't joking. They are amazingly comfortable. I'll be replacing all of my regular cotton boxer briefs with these over the next few weeks. I know lots of people workout in these as well, but I have a set of those already, so I'll use them for every day wearing.

Thank you for the recommendation.
