Everytime I order through the DRIVE-THRU they steal from me or I never get what I ordered, MANY TIMES

Same, and it's every freakin' time at 3 different locations. We'll either be missing a fry, the double cheeseburgers will be missing cheese, no sauces, missing sandwich---something every time. The we have to pull up, check our order, go back in, get what's missing. Pain in the ass.

They have options available that let you eat for cheap. They like any smart business try and get you to buy the expensive items on the menu with clever advertisements.

you can choose to spend a lot at McDonalds if you like to stuff your face.

You could get a McDouble, small coffee and a muffin and spend almost nothing. Or you can stuff your face with a double big mac upsized combo with a fruit smoothy and a mcflurry for desert.

Visited McDonald's the other day and my order came out to well over $10.

For comparison's sake, across the street Round Table offers all-you-can-eat pizza, salad and bread sticks for $7. A few miles away, there's a bunch of delicious all-you-can-eat Korean BBQs for $10. There's also two Mexican places that offer all-you-can-eat food and dessert for $7. Even head-to-head the Big Mac costs more than a Double-Double from In-n-Out, which is a far superior burger.*

Whenever I leave McDonald's, I end up feeling like I paid too much for what I get.

* In fact, it was listed as the fifth best burger in the nation by the editor in chief of Bon Appetit in case that one retard on here wants to argue it's a bad burger.

I consider the food low quality.

Regardless, if you eat out as often as most fast food customers do - it can easily turn expensive.

Its not expensive compared to local places for the same amount of food, its just much crappier.

I love Arby's. it is rather expensive though. i remember going to get 2 ham&cheese's for $2 each. put on some horsey sauce and arby's sauce and i was happy. Last time i went the sadnwich was $3.85! fuck that.

Anyone remember the 5 for $5?

Those were the glory days...

No. That's not to say that I don't think you can get more for your money elsewhere. I don't waste a lot of time bargain shopping for fast food though. All of them are so cheap it's not worth getting too preoccupied with. I choose the place I want to eat at based on hunger level, taste, distance, and price, in that order.

I go to McDonalds every month or two because I like it. It's not the best fast food, and it's not by any means the best burger you can get quickly, but sometimes it just fits the bill.

But like the others I rarely spend $10. I'm thinking you must have gotten a shake and a desert, or you live in a more expensive metro area.

yea im pretty sure a full meal at Arbys is now like 12$
for 12$ you coudl get 2 foot longs from subway, which is only slighly less "fast food" vs MCds and whatnot, thats a much larger volume of food that is most likely NOT AS BAD for you

Fast food jumped the shark a few years back. Started with Arby's moving upscale and having combo meals that snuck into the $7+ range. Now that's the norm. I'm sure they do that to offset the dollar menu a bit as those have grown in popularity.

Price wise, it's hard to beat Steak N Shake's $4 combo meals. I never order a drink so it's perfect for me. A better burger than I'd ever get at a standard fast food place and for the same price or less than I'd normally pay. Just takes a bit longer to get through the drive through.

I won't eat at steak n shake unless its the only thing around. i've watched them cook their burgers. They bring out this tiny little cylinder of meat and squish it down paper thin with a huge spatula. Then they cook the snot out of it and serve it. There's really no meat there, just a really thin piece of charcoal.

those of you saying "its too much for what you get", do you like the mid-level sitdown restaurants that serve you so much food that you always get a doggy bag to take 1/2 your food home, and don't even have room for desert? such as places like cheesecake factory?

Yes that is a problem... a $18 tab and half the food comes home... which sucks if you are heading out somewhere after dinner.

but I am a cheap bastard and when I take the family out I make them share... especially at Mexican restaurants... $9 fajita nachos can easily feed 2 adults let alone two teenagers. They whine about eating off the kids menu now they wine about sharing.

But if we go to Mcdonald's the tab can easily hit $30 (5 people) more if you try to eat healthy. I can get out of there with feeding five people for $15... but either way the food is crap and not worth it. But sometimes it is just too damn convenient... especially when traveling.

For anything I'm willing to eat (even then it's my least favorite place to eat), it's definitely overpriced, but really it's not expensive.

Domino's has a large 3 topping for $7.99.

I don't think anything but the 20 piece McNuggets is a good deal.

I used to love the McNuggets. when i worked at McDy's (ohh 23 or so years ago) i would grab one and wrap cheese in in it while cooking (i worked the grill. they wouldn't let my ugly ass in the front).

though yeah the 20 piece is a good deal. i get that for the kids every now and then.

Back in 95' I used to get a burger, small fries, and drink for just 99 cents at Mcdonalds. The Big mac, quarter pounder, etc were also 99 cents and they even used real meat.

Wikiwikiwoo: 2012 operating income 31% and net 20%. Ergo, incredibly high margins on nominally low-priced items... or very expensive offal, syrup water, and tubers.
