No. But I know what our consultants get and it's quite a bit more than me at a salaried rate. They know it too.
Consultants don't get the benefits package. When you are getting hired in your 20's that's not so bad as you can buy your own benefits cheap if you are a male. As a female, it's always expensive when young then old.
I am 41 now. Most consulting jobs (unless I want to travel to risky places and/or be constantly traveling) don't work out mathematically for me. I am in the top 5%, my bosses the 1%.
I have already had salary conversations in my past with the typical idiot that thinks he is making or breaking the company. They throw out quick "hey I am making $70,000 a year, I think that is about half what I am really worth because 'at my last job' I was making so much more!" What do you make?
lol, don't respond. At that point I was making over $10k more than him. My salary has gone up and down from that based on the benefit package. It's really that part of the compensation that matters at the upper levels.
