Cow's milk is for baby cows. If you're an adult, it is one of the least healthy things you can put in your body.

It is however perfectly healthy when it's cultured, like yogurt and cheese, but uncultured is a whole other story.

If you're looking for calcium and other vitamins/minerals, eat some leafy vegetables.

Every once in awhile I'll drink "white" milk.

Chocolate Milk... at least once a week.

I had a friend that would drink Scotch and Milk. (I still cringe at that combo)

Umm explain your logic. I am curious as to why you think it is unhealthy.

I can understand your point that it comes from a cow and nature intended it to be meant for a calf. But that in no way makes it unhealthy for humans with a balanced diet.

Two of the most common alements that affect the elderly are dehydration and bone loss due to lack of calcium. Milk is a solution to both.

I use about 1 gal a week. I only like skim milk, even 1% milk is too heavy tasting for me.

That is a total exaggeration.
No, it's not.

Any type of milk is unhealthy for adult consumption, cow or otherwise (even human). Lactose is the waste poison that your muscles give off after exercise. It's what causes the "burn."

Milk is a horrible source of calcium. The human body has to retain a precise pH balance. While milk does contain calcium, it is also quite acidic (whereas calcium is an alkaline). So in order to digest the milk, the human body actually has to process all the calcium it can from within the milk, as well as leeching additional calcium from the body, resulting in a net calcium loss.
This is why Americans have far and away the highest calcium intake in the world and yet still have the highest incidence of bone loss. We get most of our calcium from milk (most Americans also don't get enough strenuous exercise, which leads to a lack of bone density, etc., but that's another issue).

Basically what's been said here in favor of milk is decades-old government propaganda created for the benefit of the dairy subsidies. Milk doesn't do a body good (at least, not an adult body). In fact, milk has been strongly linked to Chrohns Disease and various cancers (particularly breast and prostate). Think of it as similar to the low fat craze of the past decade or so. Complete nonsense used to sell people into eating more sugars and refined flours, and now America is fat and diabetic.

Stop drinking milk and eat your leafy green vegetables.

edit: BTW, I am not vegan in any way, shape, or form. I am a proud carnivore. Nor am I saying that all dairy products are bad for you, I have a cup of yogurt almost every morning (cultured milk products are quite healthy for you), and I do put a splash of cream in my coffee. But drinking straight milk every single day? That's just horrible.

Bowl of cereal? Milk in the bowl with a glass of milk.
PB&J? Tall glass of milk.
Chocolate cake? At least three glasses, I mean c'mon! It's chocolate cake!
Pancakes? A glass for each one.
Spaghetti? Milk is the best drink with homemade spaghetti. Mmmmm.
Cookies? Extra wide cup of milk for dunking and drinking!
The perfect before-bed-beverage? MILK! (just brush your teeth afterwards, morning milk breath is baaaaaad).

Damn that sounds just like me. And dont forget really salty stuff. I had some Chinese food at work the other night that had TON of MSG in it, when I got home I had three big glasses of milk.

Skim milk all the way. I drink way too much to have it any other way. Right now I go through at least 1/2 a gal a day. The cashiers usually look at me weird when I buy 5 gallons when they're on sale

I use to drink a lot of it, but it's kind of cutback since getting in college. My parents always had a gallon of milk in reserve, but in college I don't like going to the grocery store that much.

Not debating whether milk as a whole is healthy or not, but I do think you are off on the acidity claim. According to what I've been able to look up, regular milk is almost neutral on the pH scale. Some people even claim it can be an acid remedy. I've also found sources that suggest it can get acidic if allowed to culture into yogurt or other cultured milk products.

Example page that shows milk on a pH scale:

http://www.visionlearning.com/library/module_viewer.php?mid=58

While on this topic, it should be noted that acidity is not directly related to corrosiveness. Here is a silly chemisty link that suggests this:

http://chemistry.about.com/od/chemistryfaqs/f/strongestacid.htm

Another possible example of this is a tooth decay study I once read where they measured tooth mass loss when exposed to various beverages like soda. In the study, they found that although Mountain Dew was actually less acidic than certain other sodas, it still caused far more loss in tooth mass. So acidity alone is only part of the picture.

Reality always ends up being so complicated.

I have yet to find any information on the corrosiveness of milk. I could search for other milk heath studies but now I'm losing interest.

Let me rephrase that (because yes, I did phrase it incorrectly before). The acidity of the lactose/lactic acid in milk is balanced mostly by the calcium. When you ingest milk, your body has to use the calcium in the milk and (because milk is somewhat acidic) what is already in your own in order to balance out that lactic acid as well, resulting in a net calcium loss.

Long story short: my point remains the same, milk is NOT a good source of calcium.

There is a very common misconception that just because a food or supplement contains certain vitamins and minerals that your body will be able to metabolize/make use of those vitamins and minerals. This simply isn't so.
