Do you ever drink? WATCH OUT! Your liver is going to DIE! Do you smoke? I won't even bother with that one... Do you wash your hands religiously? Like 20 times a day? If not then you have MILLIONS of germs on them and you will DIE. Oh noooooo!

MSG every now and then isn't going to a damn thing to me. I eat fairly healthy too, but every once in a while I feel the need for a fast food burger. A couple of burgers every months isn't going to make me fat either. I've done it for well over a decade and still weigh ~150 pounds and I'm healthy as ever.

Now pass me a damn eggroll.

Hehe, this made me laugh, given your name. Hamburgers can be just as destructive.

yeah.

I agree buffet eggrolls suck. I've no problem with MSG though

MSG will give you heart attacks and stroke. Not to mention insomnia and vomitting if taken in large doses.

as far as I know, MSG is bad only if you are sensitive to it (migraines, dry mouth etc). I'm not sensitive to it

MSG sent troops to Iraq.

something seems odd about the way you put this..

heart attack sounds more severe than vomiting ?

isn't it customary to put the worse things in the "not to mention" category, or am I confused ?

If you're against MSG, you're for the terrorists! Why do you hate our country, Felix?

who cares about MSG, MSG is tasty

About the same time, John W. Olney, M.D., a neuroscientist at Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri who recently had been appointed to the National Academy of Science, noted that mice being fed MSG for a study of retinal deterioration had become grotesquely obese. Believing that the obesity was related to the function of the hypothalamus in the brain, he sacrificed MSG-fed mice and found that MSG caused hypothalamus lesions and neuroendocrine disorders, and that the very young were at particular risk. Neuroscientists now generally agree that glutamic acid is neurotoxic, killing brain neurons by exciting them to death.

Mmmmm....tasty!

I did a review on that study a few years ago, per body wieght, the mice were getting fed something like the equivalent of a couple of kilos of MSG per day for humans. Way above normal consumption.

MSG is yummy. Ok come on.

Who loves... SALT AND PEPPER PORK RIBS? The fried stuff that's salty on top? Omg, you can see the freaking MSG on it. But it's so tasty right? Yup yup. I love grabbing those in Chinatown at my cheap 3 dishes for $15 place that serves genuine Chinese food.

My parents who are health nuts add MSG into some dishes because the Japanese type just tastes so much better and it helps improve the dish. I get yelled at for eating BBQ food because they can list all the cancer causing things in bbq, but they will still use msg....

Mmmmm, MSG coma. I get seriously wasted on Chinese food. Boy, I sure do love it though and when I do dare to try eating it, I have to make sure that my wife is driving the car home because I am practically unconcious by the time we get home and then I pass out for about 12 hours and feel like I am hung over the next day. I guess the amount of MSG that is put in Chinese food is so much higher than things like Doritos and the like because I eat that stuff an it does nothing to me.

I equate it to being stoned, with a minor alcohol hang over aftereffect. Needless to say, Chinese is on my menu about once or twice a year.

Peace

oh noes!

time for u to stop eating all together.

MSG was invented in China as a population control method.

Really?

From Wikipedia:

Discovery

In 1907, Japanese researcher Kikunae Ikeda of the Tokyo Imperial University identified brown crystals left behind after the evaporation of a large amount of kombu broth as glutamic acid. These crystals, when tasted, reproduced the ineffable but undeniable flavour he detected in many foods, most especially in seaweed. Professor Ikeda termed this flavour "umami." He then patented a method of mass-producing a crystalline form of glutamic acid, MSG. [1]
