just a little curious what people pay. I've been strongly thinking about hiring one. I'm pretty decent when it comes to picking up after myself, but there's some shit that I just don't want to do (washing the floors, scrubbing my stove, scouring the bath tub, etc).

And they all have off on Sunday. The streets are littered, literally, with Filapino women on Sundays in Hong Kong.

my wife and i keep up with the normal basic cleaning but once every three or four months we have a cleaning lady come in to give the place a deep cleaning. Cleaning everything off the mantle and dust, cleaning all the baseboards, mostly stuff you either don't remember or takes too long to do on your own. She is there roughly 3-4 hours and charges $75. The house is 1800 sq ft.

we probably should. Two 100+ lb dogs + two kids + 3000 sf house = losing battle for me and the Mrs. to keep up with. Might consider it when we're done with all the renovations.

It would be nice to have some additional free time, but in a 1900sq foot house with only 1 child, I'd feel like we were being lazy if we did this. It works out though, I usually do the dusting and vacuuming, and my wife does the mopping and bathroom stuff. We split the laundry. Doesn't take up too much time.

LOL, it's scary to see them lining up the pedestrian walkway, entrance of the Victoria Park. They are so cheap thou, like $3000 HKD/month, that's like $400 USD/month for a live in maid.

We have told them they have to come and be gone by noon-ish so they are not around when my wife gets home with the kids. For months they have basically ignored this directive and have ARRIVED as late at 3:30 p.m. (they have actually still been there when I got home from work)

The other day my wife had enough of it. They showed up when my wife was pulling into the driveway. She sent them away and told them to come back the next morning. They did.

Let's see how this week goes.

spoke to my mom's cleaning lady this afternoon... she quoted me $50 for my 6-room apartment. doesn't seem too unreasonable for a luxury service.

may as well take advantage of the dirt cheap rent I'm paying.
