do you guys know of this?

http://steam-roulette.heroku.com/

i've been using it fairly often. Just spin the wheel and WITHOUT HESITATION play the game the roulette chose for you (unless you already beat it or you dont have it downloaded). If you REALLY dont want to play that game, do this... make 5 spins and chose the one you liked more from what the wheel selected.

Dont argue with the wheel. Just obey and play

Sometimes when I get back from work I look at my shelves filled with physical original copies, looking forward to play something. Then I'd spend 2 hours or more thinking about which game would suit my mood the best - but then I'd realize that it's already evening and i have some things to do and I actually won't play anything. :/

On this topic, Rage will not launch from steam so I uninstalled it. Looking for a RTS to relax too, thought about how I had never played any of the Total War games, realized I owned like 3 of them...

If it makes anyone feel any better i just beat Diablo 3 on normal and have a game of Crysis 2 going. But i need to start CoD MW3 and Black Ops 1. I finished CoD MW2 a few months ago.

I will say one thing, my video card upgrades are cheaper and the games are cheaper since I am 1-2 years behind everyone.

That's the one nice thing about the DD. It makes it really easy to find all the old titles, or just pick them up on a big sale. Its rare I pay full price for a game anymore. So many games I get on sale on steam in my backlog.

Seems many of us are in the same boat. I have been starting to wonder if games have caused me to become seriously ADD.

OR maybe my ADD has always been there and has now manifested in PC Gaming.

I buy less and less every year but the problem is still with me:

every now and then "Ooo I will buy this game. This one REALLY looks like one I will play and finish".

I play it for maybe 1-10 hrs. Stop. playing it.

look through my list of games that I have spent about 1-10 hrs playing. Think about playing them but then some reason to not play them comes to mind.

Keep looking at steam....

rinse repeat.

Strategy / tactical games are usually the only ones that keep me interested but still rare.

Games I have finished or at least played to some extent in the last year:
1. XCOM ( really loved this one. Tried classic mode many times...to many wtf moments...couldn't beat it but I did beat on normal .)
2. CIV 5. Not my favorite civ, but the UI is excellent and the game grows on you. but like all Civs, after you steam roll the game on epic/huge world the act of actually finishing a game is rare and tedious....
3. Faster Than Light. For 10$....funny how I probably enjoyed this more than any other game. That includes Witcher 2, Deus X, all of the flashy titles. What is becoming of me???
4. Baldurs Gate 2. Every few months I start over. It is the same thing every time. Come up with more and more wacky custom portraits, sound sets..I spend more time hacking the game than I do playing it.
5. Bioshock Infinite: Just got this. Impressive. I MIGHT finish this one. Maybe not. will see. I think I need to finish it soon or it will find its way into my Steam Game "Stasis Chamber".

this is basically a sickness I still can't find a cure for. I think what it comes down to is I cant let go of the hobby. But the hobby is over-saturated with "slightly better than average" games. All too tempting to buy. None keep me hooked.

Yeah there are many people in the same boat, myself included. Problem is that all of the games I but I am genuinely interested in playing. The problem is that I simply don't have enough time to play them all. I believe I have 275 or so on my account now.

Just the other day I went through and started categorize all my games on steam. I sorted them as completed, low, medium, high, and don't bother.

This whole scenario of buying games more than playing them reminds me of a friend who was a network admin about 15 years ago before more people had a switch or hub. But he had 6 PC's and he would spend more time updating them and reinstalling Windows than playing games.

I don't think so but there are a TON of games I haven't played. At least they were all bought cheaply on sale so I don't need to feel guilty.

On Origin i somehow have Alice: Madness returns and never knowingly purchased it because i already had it on Steam. That one always confused me.

I have plenty of Steam games i have never played though or only played a few minutes of.

Same here, that is why i signed up for Cheathappens cause many of these games i know i'll never play much of or get into, so i use trainers when i do get around to installing them. Makes the game go quicker and stops that feeling of guilt i have for not finsihing it.

There is a belief by some people you should play games on easy to enjoy the actualy game and if you want a challenge to replay it at a harder difficulty. While i would not do that often I am sure there are some games it would be useful to actually beat in easy mode so i can complete the game instead of getting frustrated.

Sit there bored looking to play something new. Think about a game that was released that you never played,

done that way too often. I have some games I pre-ordered which I have still not played.

I do not have 100+ games, but I do have a program which turns off all the auto download update features on each program as I find updating games I do not play annoying, espically when trying to play some other game (out side of steam, but still needing to be online. At least launching a steam game normally stops other steam games from updating).

Done something similar but I find I give up on the game I was to play before it even finishes installing, let alone being updated
