Sit there bored looking to play something new. Think about a game that was released that you never played, and then go to steam and find out you already own it?

No idea when I bought Rage, but I'm going to play it now... lol

My steam library is huge...

What about "I should buy (x) so I can play with friends". Doh, I already own it.

Same issue here, was looking at Company of Heroes 2 yesterday and noticed they offered Dawn of War 2 Retribution with it. Had no idea if I owned it or not, turned out I did when I checked my full library No idea when I got it, but I had it.

I have about 300 games in my Steam library, most of which I haven't played and don't even remember buying.

what happens to me is that i go up and down in the list of downloaded games in my library thinking and having this conversation with myself:

"what should i play? hmmm... oh, mass effect, i could continue playing this"
"hmmm no, i dont feel like it. Witcher 1, i want to finish that game before starting witcher 2"
"but the game is kinda slow for this hour, i need something more fast-paced"
"what abouuuuuuuuuuuuut... hard reset? that is fast"
"yeaaahmm... but its too hard"

and the conversation goes on and on until i start playing something or i end up in facebook or something

edit: when i had 1 game at a time i would play the shit out of every single one of them... 1 at a time

What's worse is when you're bored, look at your list, realize you have a ton of games you've never played, yet still buy something else because it's on sale and "looks interesting."

This is so true :awe: as for OP that has never happened to me but my Steam library is rather small at 156 games and I'm not into indie titles which tend to inflate the library rather quickly.

I am guilty of this too. I think I should just avoid the store portion of Steam from now on.

I had to really talk myself out of the $4 gamefly deal (darkness 2, the line) simply because I knew I'd never play them. I almost pressed the button, but sanity won over when I went back and looked at my Steam catalog, along with all the other non Steam games I still hav eto play ;p

Well, I was looking for the disk for my copy of Fallout 3 a few months ago. Couldn't find it anywhere. So I sat at my pc thinking on where I put them and steam flashed up that it had an update. when it restarted I saw in my list of games I could just download and install it that way.

Felt stupid for wasting my time looking for the disk.

I'm a minority it seems in that my steam library only has games I play or have finished. I don't buy games just cause they are cheap, I look only for what is getting good reviews and go on that. It's too easy to waste $100+ buying a bunch of cheap games and realizing they all suck.

This is what happened to me this week:

"hmm, I want to play an rpg...oh Divinity II, I own it" (I download the damn game)...play it for an hour...eh i'm bored....I'll play Legends of grimlock some more - get stuck at a puzzle and gives up....

Loads Origin to play BF3 - start off great (17-6) then I get kicked off the server-damnit!
closes Origin....opens steam....."hmm..I want to play an rpg again....don't know what to play..." (spend 45 minutes looking at Steam demos) I ended up downloaded Heroes of M/M and Kingdoms of amalur demo

I'll see what happens this weekend

If it makes anyone feel any better i just beat Diablo 3 on normal and have a game of Crysis 2 going. But i need to start CoD MW3 and Black Ops 1. I finished CoD MW2 a few months ago.

I will say one thing, my video card upgrades are cheaper and the games are cheaper since I am 1-2 years behind everyone.

I've discussed this for years. It's a fairly basic level of having too many games.

Then you start to add up how many titles you buy a second time from different sources.

Then you start to count how many times you buy the same title MORE than twice.

For example, twice becomes routine - but four times might be worth counting.

One thing that makes it a little worse is when you see the title on Steam and it sounds like a game you never heard of - 'that sounds original!' - and you own it.

It's gotten to the point where it's faster to see if I already have it by adding it to the cart than checking the library of somewhere between 500 and 1000 Steam games.

I've often given up on searching other digital purchases and hundreds in boxes.

I thought that story might end with 'hey, Divinity II looks good', and then realizing you forgot you own it already again.

That's because the real game is buying games on Steam, silly.

Those crazy steam sales kill me. I was used to games being much more expensive and felt compelled to jump on any deal that looked somewhat interesting. Big mistake, it's like drinking from a firehose. I think I've finally broken the habit but my backlog is already large enough to last a few lifetimes. Half stunned, I gaze at my game list and have no idea what to play. XD

Thank god I'm not the only one. I installed bioshock infinity and tomb raider this week. Started playing bioshock for a day then leaned towards TR. The resulting confusion got me playing nothing the next day, so I just viewed some TotalBiscuit videos. That right there is my life.

Does buying a game you were warned not to buy count? I was told not to get HAWX2 because many people couldn't get it to run. Got it 2 months ago on a sale and haven't played a second because it crashes every time, never even got to see intro.
