Do you feel that people are always deserving of a second chance when they screw up?

definitely depends on what the person screwed up on.

if they screwed up by cheating then kick them out to the curb. i don't believe in people in that nonsense of "in the heat of the moment", being unfaithful is not something that occurs in a moment, the person has a choice and plenty of time to consider the consequences, and clearly chose to 1. not consider or 2. not care about the consequences. both should not be forgiven nor forgotten.

on the other hand, if ...say...a guy "screws up" on forgetting their g/f's special occassion, such as her bday, their anniversary, etc. then the guy should clearly be given a second chance, (if not a third and a fourth and so on )

Depends what they did. If they screwed up by roasting their baby in the oven and "really know it was a bad thing to do and are repentent", I'd probably be inclined to not give them a second chance.

Under most circumstances, yes. People learn from mistakes, for the most part, so after making the mistake most people will learn not to make it again.

If they feel guilty and have made every attempt to rectify their mistake - I'd give them a second chance.

If they only talk in terms of being "ashamed" of their actions, sorry that doesn't cut it for me and I have to toss them to the curb.

usually, depending on the specific circumstances.

ex) Bob gets mad at Joe for cutting him off in traffic. Bob shoots Joe. Joe is dead. Bob has never had road rage before. Bob is very repentant, Bob has learned his lesson, Bob doesn't get a 2nd chance from me.
