Well in most cities tickets account for 30-40% of there income. So how about they raise your taxes another 10% and see how happy you are isgust;

Why not reduce wasteful spending instead?

I do if it's a true speedtrap, i.e. cop at bottom of hill or hiding just trying to make his or her quota. People have flashed towards me and it has saved my ass a few times. So I tend to return the favor. Especially on the 895 spur from 95 north where they give you a citation for 10 mph over and the limit is 50! Traffic goes 75 on that road quite comfortably between the rushes.

Cheers!

In my experience, you won't get pulled over for driving in a safe manner, and people driving in a safe manner are much less likely to cause accidents.

Everytime I think about flashing my high beams to other people I think of how bad it would suck if some guy was speeding or driving like a fool and hit me, regardless of what other problems may come from that, he might not be doing that if he just got a ticket for it.

I'm not a perfect law-abiding driver, but I do my best to not put other people's lives and cars in danger. I'd like the same from everyone else and helping some loser avoid a ticket isn't the way to do that.

Well said.

No, I don't, and this is my logic:

1. Most law breakers have little regard for any laws, even traffic laws
2. Because of #1, even when criminals know there are outstanding warrants or bulletins describing them, they don't drive any differently
3. Because of #2, the police locate and arrest a huge number of wanted criminals for routine speeding and traffic violations
4. So no, I don't flash my lights to warn anyone about a police cruiser. I will flash my lights for traffic hazards like crap in the road (or cattle around here)

i hope you dont call 911 when you need the police too.

why bother 99% of the time they say they cant help you anyway..

had my house buglarized.. my car broken into and vandalized.. all we ever got was sorry heres your report.. now fvck off..

cops for the most part suck... the US legal system is a freaking joke.

If cops would spend less time hounding peeps about stupid driving laws and more time chasing murderers and rapists and thieves the world would be a faster but nicer place =P

Yeah, I hope things go well. I don't want any fuggin' points...that's for sure.

i think the proper way to signal is to wave your hand out the window...

i read it in a book, on how to beat speeding tickets.

No - I don't see it too much out west.

When I lived in PA I noticed people doing this all the time - took a bit to figure out what they meant. If it were a really sneaky speed trap I'd flash 'em but most of the time I'd just continue on. Most of the roads in central PA were two lanes anyway & you couldn't speed if you wanted to....

Yep, I sure do. I have a lot of respect for the police but most speeding tickets are nothing more than an additional tax on the drivers and do nothing for safety. Speeding in a school zone, parking lot, or neighborhood is a lot more dangerous than speeding on a bridge or interstate but where do you see the speed traps? Simple - where it's easy.

Bust the DUI's and red light runners but leave the people going 80 in a 70 alone...

I got nothing against cops but I HATE CROOKED COPS! so to me, it depends... normally i wouldnt flash my lights becuase if the group of cars ahead is slowing down / theres gotta be a reason behind it. I love the interstate at night time... you can see those reflections for a nice distance.

I flash the high beams (I always have the low beams on, even during day). The idea is I use European Roads, which for half of their distance goes thru villages and cities, with a speed limit of 50 km/h (30 mph). If I would go only with the legal max speed, then I would make the destination not in 3.5 hours but in 5.

Calin

EDIT: by the way, I hardly go over the limit for out-of-city roads (90 km/h, or 56 mph. This is a speed I feel comfortable with in most situations

I will flash my lights for an accident to warn people, that they better slow Down.

DOT holds conference on driving safely

Near me people have died working along the road recently.
It was last Friday when one of Fah's employees, 40-year-old Charles Ballard, was hit and killed by a tractor trailer. Ballard was part of the crew repaving a section of I-90. Police said he was struck when he climbed over a barrier into the open lane of traffic.

Flash the lights for a radar police car,not usually,If you don't want a speeding ticket;Slow down.

BTW I got stopped 3 weeks ago,for going thru Two yellow lights in a row,and the last one
went to Red.

I didn't get a ticket,I was honest with the Police Officer,lol,
when he walked up to me,I had both hands at the Top of the steering wheel,
and was polite.
He asked me,"do you know why I stopped you?"

I answered, well I must have done something Stupid.

He said"how about going thru 2 yellow lights in a row,and almost stopping in the intersection behind
the stopped Bus!!"

I told hime yeah I knew the last light I should have stopped, and the bus,I thought was going to move,
then I saw the bus driver get out of the bus.

I was glad to Not get a ticket, and really didn't mind being stopped,as I was driving a bit too fast too.

Doh!

That is an absolute joke. If I got a ticket for that, though I wonder how they would catch me (could you see the stakeout?), I would argue that the flashing of high beams is speech protected by the first amendment. My speech is that I am telling incoming traffic to slow down, drive the speed limit and save lives. This is not yelling "FIRE!!!" in a crowded theater. I would not make that argument to the cop, because he would "find" some other reason to ring me up.

Yes. If the driver doesn't get it, it's his or her fault. And why is it illegal? I am just telling them to slow down for their own safety
Also, some people send emails to warn of cops running speed traps next to work.

I didn't read all but you should turn your lights on and off three times. That is the signal. Flashing high beams tells the other drivers they have their lights in your eyes and you can't see.
