Long story: Used to be headphones only because I lived with my parents. Eventually got Sennheiser HD555s back in the day. Used those for over 5 years and then they fell apart. (my fault) But I had Logitech Z-5500 for a while too. Great combo those two were. I felt like king of the audio world. Sold the Z-5500s because I never got to use them (Was living with parents and others). Used the HD555s for a long time. Got super shitty dell speakers for $25 and stopped using my HD555s because they were broke. Got HD595s. Hugely disappointed and had been so spoiled by bass from even the shittiest of speakers that they felt like trash. Sold them and kept on with the garbage speakers... but eventually the garbage speakers were starting to feel like crap. (Maybe I broke them or my ears were broken)
Eventually I got a Focusrite 2i2 + Yamaha HS80Ms and topped it off with a Yamaha HS10W sub. If I ever get a nice microphone, I'm good to go.
So, I only use speakers now. I am one of those guys with the mic and the speakers. Of course, they make everything sound terrible (in general, not just the mic)... Well, not true. Some very special songs sound fucking amazing, but everything else sounds like shit.
