Do you get annoyed when people mis-use the ginger that comes with sushi?

A friend of mine has an annoying habit of using the pallet clensing bits of sliced ginger as a garnish, putting it literally on top of her sushi rolls. I've thought of correcting her but know that would embarassing her, but is everyone else in the restaurant noticing worse, would I be saving her of future embarassment by just mentioning it?

Why do so many people do this? It drives me batty!

You're not missing anything. It's the OP. He hasn't figured out how to use the three seashells to get the stick out of his ass.

You know, of all the possible things I have been and could possibly be annoyed with, I don't think it would EVER have occurred to me to consider this. Then again, to me sushi isn't "food", so what do I know...

Firstly, a part of me doesn't die nor does baby Jesus cry when she does this, I just get mildly annoyed.

Secondly, it's kinda awkward to go to a nice sushi joint and then have someone eating ignorantly. Does that make sense? Imagine going to a chinese restaurant and your friend stabbing his chicken with one chopstick and then eating it. That sort of embarassment, about not knowing how to eat according to the costums. I.E. Ignorance.

EDIT: To further illustrate my point, my dad didn't know how to use chopstick and it would be odd watching him struggle with them, so I taught him and all is well. Should I casually mention "hey, did you know that the giner is used between different rolls?" to educate her?

That's not as bad as people that try to drink the water from the finger bowl in some restaurants.

If that pisses you off, then the fact that I use my fingers and a fork instead of chopsticks really has to chafe your ass.

Wtf is the problem? I'm asian and will sometimes use forks or use the chopstick stab method. There are a lot of traditional dishes that I will eat differently because thats how I like it. Some dishes I'll add soy sauce instead of fish sauce or vice versa.

Do you also get annoyed when people don't toss their salads and use the stab and dip method?

Damnit, now I want some Sushi!

Btw, I was a sushi skeptic for a long time, but you just have to find the right place

Recommend : White tuna, yellowtail, and the specialty rolls

seriously, I'm not crying over this - i'm just midly annoyed. Remember, some sushi joints are upper crust affairs, expensive and the sort of place you dress up to go to - wouldn't you be annoyed if you go to a nice place and then someone you were with was sprinkling mints on her steak?

a) I don't think she knows better
b) I'm bored so I started a thread about something that was a mild annoyance to me.

No. She can add some A1 on top of that too. I might ask her about it and if she answers, "I like it this way," I drop it.

I garnish my sushi with the ginger, tastes better than ginger by itself. If someone tried to correct me I'd tell them to f*ck themselves and continue to eat it the way I like it.

Man, if you get annoyed by something as silly as this, then I have one question for you. How does it feel to walk around pissed off all day?

Yes you should tell her that she is supposed to eat the ginger slices after she has a piece of sushi.
Otherwise she isn't getting the real flavor of the fish/roll. If she likes it like that, then why bother eating sushi?

I would immediately dump any SO who brought this up.

Also, no one is watching you eat - stop flattering yourself. No one cares.

My wife eats the ginger plain. *Blech*</end quote></div>

I do too - I like it.

I don't eat it at all. I might put a bit of it in the soy sauce but that's about it.
