Blogging died once people realized that nobody gives a sh*t about what they have to say. It's just an enormous circle-jerk where friends link your blog in hopes you read their nonsense, but in the end nobody cares.

I do on Wordpress. I only write occasionally and currently only intend to use it to share short stories with friends.

You want to generate traffic? Write music/movie reviews. I used to get <10 hits per day. I wrote a review for Linkin Park's 'Minutes to Midnight': it jumped to 300-400 hits per day for the whole month of May.

I do.

it's sad, but it's probably the #1 way my friends and I know what's going on in each other's lives.

Sorry, your life is boring and I hate it. My advice? Lie in your blog.

I generally blog when I'm traveling, because then I actually have something to write about.

No. It's corny as hell when people feel the need to express themselves with a blog, as if anyone really gives a crap.

I have one for my son.

I am about 4-5 entries behind right now. Overall its fairly short because he is only 4 months old

Sometimes blogs are not for mass consumption. I understand its pretty lame to anyone who doesn't know me or my family.

It is handy to keep the relatives up on whats going on with the baby though.. I am surprised how many people within the family keep checking on it.. The downside now is I catch shit for not updating often enough heh..

The main reason I created it was to be a journal of his life.. My plan is to keep updating it as he grows up, including our (his mom&me) feelings and thoughts about what is going on.

Hopefully it will be neat for him to read when he is going through the same stage of his life to learn his parents were just as scared and confused (read:clueless) as he probably will be.

you dont seem to realize that 1) blogs serve other purposes 2) your participation in a message board is an exercise in expression

Most blogs are personal in nature and create a fictictous (sp?) environment/atmosphere, a self whoring ground so to speak, where people link with one another, friends or otherwise, where they can brag about each other's "interesting" lives. So much drama involved.

It's a forum for elevating one's own image and stature, real or otherwise. Kind of like some here who care about their various "lifer/senior" statuses, post counts, or online reputation.

Some post way too much information and is a resourceful medium for pedophiles and/or stalkers.

Some people give too much thought into what others (strangers) think about themselves.

I do, I like the interface it gives me.

I figure if I put it down my thoughts anywhere, whether it be physical on paper or stored via an electronic medium, I'm asking someone to look at them, the blog makes it easy.
