I got turned on to it just a few weeks ago. Friend of mine from the Dominican Republic gave me a mason jar full of hot sauce he grew last summer in Canada. Just a tiny little dab of it will spoil any meal..according to my sister...but I'm now halfway thru this mason jar of goodness.

You guys grow your own hot peppers?

I don't know what it is about Canada but when we tried to grow them to put in salsa when we lived in Windsor, we failed miserably, the soil is kinda -iffy. Way more luck down here in the red clay of South Carolina, just picked a nice batch of Carolina Reapers, they come with a recommended usage of 3 rolls of TP after consumption, yet the flavor definitely outweighs the risks. If I were you, I would try some.

I've been reading up some...apparently its all about the warmth of your garden.

I love me some hot sauce but my digestive system can't handle them anymore. I always pay the price later on, and it's just not worth it

Your sister is extraordinarily sensitive to capsaicin, or shens. One of my favorites is Original Juan's 100% Pain, I think the bottles are like 5-6 ounces. If you don't like peppers this shit will curl your tongue. It's not "look at my huge stupid dick" ghost pepper bs. It's a very hot sauce you can actually use regularly. I'm a chili head and I usually apply 2-3 little dabs to, say, a burger. Bottle lasts me about five years.

So that stuff you have is probably about as hot as a banana.

I have to go with my island boy when he tells me if its hot or not. i'm funny that way right now. I could be proven wrong eventually.

Douchebags who proudly display their collection of 122 hot sauces and then show off how they can drink the hottest sauce on the planet are starting rival the craft beer douches. The good thing about the hot pepper douches is you don't have to listen to them preach quite as much. But I'd gladly run over either one of them with my car and then back up and run over them again. I'm not picky.

I like HOT!, but only to the "melt your face, set your hair on fire" level. Any hotter than that is just too fucking hot.

I have jalapenos, serranos, and poblanos in the garden...but have grown fresnos and habaneros in the past. Habs are just too hot for me.

I usually just use Tabasco and squeeze some fresh lime in it for the extra zest. Really brings out the favor in the food but can also be super overwhelming if you're not used to it. Don't recommend it either if you have acid reflux

I do love hot sauces, but don't need more the maybe five or six of them.

Sriracha, Cholula, Tabasco, Crystal, La Victoria Salsa Brava. And then various salsas and (homemade) pico de gallo, if those even count. That's going to cover about 99.9999% of my needs.

This morning I had a couple of hard-boiled eggs with Sriracha. And just now had a chicken burrito with lots of fresh cilantro and a little Salsa Brava.

I like the Jim Beam Hot Sauce, it's a shame they discontinued it though. In my garden I grow Habanero's, Datil, Scotch Bonnets and I have a Carolina reaper plant. I have no intention of using anything that comes off of the reaper plant, I have a feeling that it would be too hot for anything useful except letting someone who thinks they can handle eating one try it.

Cholula is pretty much our mainstay, usually have a few others I like around. Hadn't even popped the top on the new Tobasco.

The wife is the Sriracha fan here.

Usually just keep a bag of red peppers and other things around so can grind things up for rubs etc.

Ooh, Pickapeppa. I do love me some Pickapeppa, although A1 and some spices will do in pinch. Fantastic on fish.

I like the saltiness of Cholula, but it's been surpassed for many things by Sriracha lately. Love that sweet/garlic flavor of Sriracha.

When I lived in Las Cruces, NM they had chili farms all over the place and I used to get a sack of fresh big Jim peppers and roast them along with fresh jalapenos. I learned that the shape of the tip denotes how hot it is. The pointier they are the hotter they are and the aroma also indicates how potent they are relative to the type of chili as some are much hotter than others to begin with. They've got this Scofield rating system for chili's and it's interesting to see where each kind is rated at.
