The Camry Hybrid has a MSRP of $25,900. The dealerships you go to will w/o a doubt ask over the MSRP. Compared to the Camry SE V6 (invoice - $21,640), you get almost 300 more miles per tank of gas. The bottom line is are you willing to spend $30K for a Camry? How much gas money are you saving a year by going hybrid?

Hybrid: 40/38
SE V6: 22/31
2007 Camry Features

According to Toyota.com the SE V6 option is $24,315, and the Hybrid is $25,900 (the $2600 rebate make it come in at $23,300 which is 1K less than the SE V6). The SE V6 come with 17in wheels, while the Hybrid 16in wheels/better sound system (sound system is an option that you can buy for the SE).

I would go for it if I have the money & need for a new car, because it cost less than the Accord and look much nicer.

That's a fair comparison...

Yes, you get 17 in. wheels....oh, and 75 more HP...

And good luck getting those prices. Edmunds.com estimates you'd pay $28,052 for the Hybrid and $23,200 for the gas-only SE.
Maybe not American, but us Canadian get it at MSRP or less and we do have rebate as well.

Depends on the package, the SE V6 cost the same as the Hybrid to $1450 more before tax rebate.

You also tax your cars a lot more, so we still probably come out ahead

$2600 Rebate?? Isn't it a tax credit? So you would get $2600 off your taxable income assuming you itemize. The actual amount you save would be the tax you would normally pay on $2600 dollars of income. Isn't that how it works? Could someone clarify?

Good luck getting one, at least here in CA. A doctor friend of mine waited 2 months, after the car's were released for sale, to finally be next in line to get one. The car also had a $3500 markup above MSRP, which they would not negotiate on.

My dealership has two of them, and a new Prius - and two used Priuses. On top of that - there's no dealer markup that all of you are bitching about.

the chicago tribune reviewed the camry hybrid today...said its definitely worth it if you are willing to pay the 5,000 dollar premium from the base model. comes with all the XLE extras and such. 40mpg city is great for a midsize car!

$5000 premium over base my ass

I just looked at cars direct

base camry CE can be had for $18,420
base camry hybrid can be had for ...drumroll please...$28,480
$2000 over MSRP!!!!

WOW

The funny thing is, I bet it will be 5 years before a used Camry Hybrid is worth less than $20000.

Excellent investment as far as cars are concerned

It is a tax credit. However, what you describe is a tax deduction. Before this year, it was a tax deduction.

Hybrids are still not worth the money, no matter which way you cut it. The only thing they offer is a smug feeling that you are "going green".

No one takes into account that the batteries are eventually going to need replacement and the car is loaded with specalized electronic gear.

Anyone looking at a car as an "investment" deserves to get burnt.

heh. I paid 15k for my ram 2500 w/cummins. I get 20 on the highway, loaded. Think of all that gas I can buy with the 12 K difference, and all the things I can do with it, that a camry cant do.

I'm sure the cheapest Camry SE V6 nationwide is much cheaper than the prices I quoted too...BTW, the ones I listed include destination
