No, but I think it could be used in a Touring crew situation, where there are people spread over a wide area you have a need to keep tabs on. Leave radio channels open for Very Important Conversation.
But I'm old now, so I don't matter.

I keep up with a bunch of my musician friends with twitter. It's good for those last minute "I need a keyboard/keyboardist" type of message and I can follow what everybody is up to. A couple of my friends make really funny messages and I enjoy them and I know I can ignore the whole thing if I'm not in the mood.

When I went into the hospital last summer with heart failure/stroke etc it was amazing how quickly the news and updates zipped around my little musical community. I got sick at a rehearsal and one quick twitter from the hospital got sent to tons of people. I was amazed at how powerful it was.

I set it up mainly to follow the Questionable Content characters (I thought it complemented the webcomic really well - the artist posts in character for more than a dozen regulars from the comic) but eventually lost interest. It's integrated into Trillian/Gwibber (my preferred IM clients) but I only pay attention to it maybe once a week. Mainly a few porn stars (got curious after the Charlie Sheen episode), celebrities (Conan, Kevin Smith), stand up artists (Aziz Ansari, Louis CK) and a few websites.

I just upgraded from windows 2000 to XP. If it works, don't fix it.

Basically I use it as a news aggregator with a couple of funny posters thrown in. I follow a bunch of news sites and Jesus_M_Christ (funniest thing ever, btw). Any actual people who write about a mundane activity, even just once, are immediately removed from my feed.
