if you were really unhappy with your job would you stick it out until you could find a job you like (which could be several months or years down the road) or would you quit and start another job, like sales until you could find a job you like?

i honestly don't know what to do. i'm very unhappy at my current job but i can't find another job in the IT field that I'm qualified for or that even sounds interesting.
The only other job i had outside of IT is working in a kitchen.

i want a job where someone gives me a task to do and lets me go do it. Like it isn't something that someone is watching over me 24/7. i don't want to have to deal with people who have problems or stupid people, like in a tech support setting.

at this point, i hate doing IT work. if it was web design or something like that i could handle it, but i don't have the experience or training.

Yes, manager/deliver driver at a pizza restaurant. My employees are idiots. They can't even take a stupid order using the computer. Worthless slobs, I tells ya.

Professional ATOTer.

Get out.
Do something else. Thats what I did.

Job satisfaction is a hundred times more important than a paycheck.

If you can be happy flipping burgers and miserable installing computers, I'd recommend the burgers.
At least long enough for you to collect your sanity and pick a new career.

Yes, I very thoroughly hate my job. I'm trying to stick it out until I find a better job, but I'm not sure how well that's going to work out.

I think that I'd really like my job, if it weren't for my coworkers, though. I think that what is subconsciously keeping me there is the hope that a couple of employees will be fired in the near future.

Work in IT as well. I like troubleshooting and fixing problems, like many others we all hate dealing with stupid people.

People who hate their jobs and continue to keep going to them just aren't very smart. Should be like me and have no job at all - Really though, if you literally 'hate' your job, it's time to look for a different one. Why spend most of your life doing something you hate? Like the guy above said, Job satisfaction is a hundred times more important than a paycheck. I've been on the job hunt for a long time, but don't want to get a job i'm going to hate, which really limits my options

A job you 'hate' and a job you don't like much are two different things. Hate is a powerful word.

When I took my job, it was because I thought that I'd really enjoy it, though money was definitely an influencing factor. I had two job offers at the same time... the other one was less money, but I definitely should have taken that offer instead of the one I accepted. This one isn't worth double my salary.

Now, if a few of my coworkers were terminated (as has been repeatedly recommended by superiors), I'd rather enjoy my job, I think.

Oh, and yeah, hate is definitely a strong word. But it's not strong enough.

People have already tried to help you with this in a number of other threads you've started with the same or similar topics. The problem is that you aren't willing to do the work necessary (read: school) to change careers, and you don't want to flip burgers. Posting this thread ever couple of weeks isn't going to magically yield an answer requiring no effort on your part.

Not trying to be harsh, but it's the truth.

coding / and yeah, I pretty much hate my job. I have sworn several times that I would never go back to write progs and here I am again (led a comp shop for a while as a break). I would love to be a security guard or something like that and read books through the night. I would be a happy man. But the money...

I'm beginning to think that owning my own business should be my goal. I always respected my parents for owning their own business and they have been very successful at it. That, and I'm tired of dealing with other people's sh|t.

OMG i feel exactly the same way. I chose the $$ and now I hate my job. Since it's an entry level position, I'm just gonna stick it through until I'm ready to study for some tech certifications and then move on.

I don't hate my job. If you hate yours, remember these little words of wisdom.

It's always easier to find a job when you already have one.

So, don't quit. I would stick it out and look for something new.
