Do you have a landline in your main residence?

I'm pretty sure you can get your landline number ported to a cell phone.

Only time it's ever caused me any grief is when dealing with Paypal. They require a landline. I simply give them my work number and tell them to go fuck themselves.

like, physically? yes, there are telephone jacks in my kitchen and bedroom.

but I don't have a phone hooked up to any of them and haven't actively used a landline on a regular basis since college in the early 00's (I went to college in a small town out in the middle of nowhere, so even people that had cellphones got crap reception)

i have dry loop dsl service. depending on the special i may get a metered phone line hooked up but i've never connected a phone to it.

I don't have a landline of my own. I use my parents since I'm still at home, though not vary often. I have my own cell. Cell phone service is getting prohibitively expensive here though. Especially if you're a smartphone user. I'll probably go the MagicJack route in the future.

I have both; sometimes cell phone service is not up. For example when there is an earthquake everyone freaks out and calls to everyone else on the cell phones and saturates the cell.
Also phone service, LD and ADSL are kind of cheaper on a bundle for me.
