Do you have buyer's remorse over big purchases?

my 2 biggest purchases were my car and house.

i've had buyer's remorse on both immediately (ie: the day after signing the papers) but that went away after a month of owning.

I'm a very impulsive person and often don't think things through or do enough research before pulling the trigger on a purchase (mainly because I want it NOW!). So yes, definitely.

Only years down the road when I looked back and saw how stupid it was to spend that kind of money on something as trivial as a computer or TV. I guess in the grand scheme of things those aren't huge purchases.

Sometimes...especially when I find the big ticket item cheaper right after making the purchase.

There are times I wonder why the hell I dropped 3-4K on home theater speakers...that one stings sometimes. Other than that, I usually don't think about big purchases after they're made- and I definitely don't keep checking prices etc to be pissed when it goes on sale etc

lol boomer beat me to it- yeah I make it a point not to look @ prices after I buy it...ignorance is bliss

No, I usually familiarize myself with all things related to possible purchases so that I know the best price/performance target. When stuff happens to be available for purchase, I just buy it knowing it is the best for me.

I initially regretted my grad school MSChE because I was out of work for 9 mths after graduation due to the economic downturn. I could have had a 70k$/yr job if I didn't go to grad school since I had had co-ops at that company and it was before the downturn. However, after living with the initial road bump, I got a different job and am happily married, have a nice custom built home, can afford my hobbies, and saving for retirement.

I always overthink purchases before going through with them, and I still can get buyer's remorse if there's any small detail missing or if I did it in a rush.

Occasionally, but most the time I make sure I know what I am buying befoe I pull the trigger.

I can only think of a few.

-a netbook I bought right before tablets became a big thing (since I purchased a tablet, I couldn't tell you the last time I used the netbook)

-my Macbook Air (I needed a laptop at the time, but the reason I went with a too-expensive Mac is because I was crushing on an Apple guy at the time)

-my Kindle Fire (eventually replaced it with a full-fledged tablet for my gaming/web-surfing/comic-reading needs, and an e-ink Kindle for reading books on the subway while commuting to work)

usually not, I tend to rarely make big purchases for myself and I over-evaluate every angle before doing so.

I have no problem buying big ticket items for others on impulse though.

I'm more like this: I research the eff out of things, but then still feel bad afterwards.

Latest regret is a box fan that I barely use. It was only $25.

Right now, I want to blow $4500 on an infrared camera. I don't think I'd regret it one bit considering it's a toy + potential career. It's still hard to swallow blowing that amount of money. The stupid/sad thing is that I had absolutely no problem blowing that much or twice that amount on college for years.

I'm the same. Always been a bit OCD about it.

No

Actually during the summer months, when my Rzr sits in the garage because it is too hot to go to the desert and use it....that is $20k just sitting there. So yea, that sucks.

No, I usually over research everything. I do this so I don't have that feeling, or find something better as soon as I buy one thing.

We weren't sure if we really wanted a UTV so we rented one for a few days and figured out that UTVs weren't for us. It was fun but the noise was noisy.

Really? I guess it depends on where you are and the type of riding you have.

We have a ton of open desert and sand dunes (like the one I am jumping in the last link in sig), and noise is not a problem.

I guess it is sort of loud when you are pinned @ 70mph, but at that point I am having so much fun it doesn't really bother me.

When most of your outdoor activities involve hiking, any motor is loud. UTVs with their modest mufflers and open cabs are more so. I'm not knocking UTVs, they just aren't our thing.

On big ticket items, no because I would do a lot of research on them to get the best price and I keep them like forever such as my vehicle, TV, and tech items such as laptop/computer/cell phone.

OTOH, I still do not understand why I purchased over 1,000 DVD movies/TV shows/etc. and over 99% of them are still in their factory wraps. I also feel bad about my 22" computer LCD monitor (haven't use it for a looooong while) and the Pioneer home audio receiver (still unopened), Nike sneaker (unused). I also have too much clothes IMO.

Other than that, I am good.

my dad is like that, and I don't understand it at all... he buys DVD's all the time, but rarely ever watches any.

I'd say 90% are still shrink-wrapped, and at least 5% of the opened ones are because I borrowed them to watch at my house.

i usually just do a lot of research on big purchases. sometimes to the point that i over-analyze things. but i can't think of anything i've purchased in the past few years that i had buyers remorse on.
