@skyking Please don't victim blame.
I'm not victim blaming. It is wrong headed to open a door with the expectation that you need to fill your hand with iron, to quote the old western. If you have an expectation of something that dire on the other side of the door, don't open the door. And yet people do it time and again.
If you have a gun for defense, set up a defensive position.
I am a firm believer in the adage that nobody should know you have a gun until it is too late for them.

Idk man.... personally I like my survival-odds dramatically better if the LEO isn't surprised by my weapon being there if they decide to take a look. (and if they run your name they'll be finding out anyway.... plus will NOT be happy you didn't speak up)
In my CCL class they told us if pulled over to let the officer you know have a CCL and if you are carrying or not. Regardless of any required disclosures. Just a safety thing and like quoted, officer will not like to be surprised if you don't say something

@blackangst1 What we do know is already sufficient. LEO went to the wrong house and gunned down the law abiding resident inside. That the citizen was exercising his right to be armed is completely irrelevant to the LEO's unlawful actions.

@skyking So you're saying that by carrying a gun inside their own home, the citizen was dressed provocatively?

@dphantom The only reason Abbot wants to pardon that convicted murderer is because he wants to encourage and empower his supporters to commit more violence and murder against his political opponents.
That protester that was murdered was lawfully exercising his 1a and 2a rights. Just because you disagree with his speech doesn't give you (or anyone) the power to deprive him of those rights, much less murder him.

You must not read these forums where people say that exact thing.

Or I'm totally wrong, and not one time, anywhere, does anyone reference buying back firearms or outright confiscating them.
I don't think that ANYONE who has said to ban these weapons and do a buy back program claims it will remove all firearms out there.

You made the claim that someone did so please provide your resources to back that up because I don't believe you.

No, I don't see that there in my post. Nice try at putting words in my mouth though.

"LEO went to the wrong house and gunned down the law abiding resident inside. "

That is perfectly accurate and we've seen it all too often. You don't need to be brandishing a gun for that to happen to you.
My advice predates this thread and my membership here. Don't take your gun to the door or out of your house with any other intent besides going to the shooting range.
Nothing on the other side of the door is worth anybody dying for.

You should live closer to NYC. they are terrible on average

View attachment 79213

Actually.....

NYC is the largest police department in the US with well over 35k cops.

IF you take that into consideration they do a pretty damn good job with the VAST majority of LEO/public interaction in NYC being "positive" in nature.

Sorry but I'm only interested in objective opinions.

You think most people here like the cops?

Most barely do some of their job. Some are good. Most are Trump humping racists.

You don't know much about how people around here feel about the police. I read the local news and talk to locals in person and online all the time

If I'm not mistaken you are in fact a "Joisey-boy" not a "real" New Yorker at all.... have you ever worked in NYC and commuted daily or driven in on the regular? *(fyi I was born in "Joisey" myself so nothing wrong with that alone)

I did BOTH for several decades IRL ... also I lived in the South Bronx and in upper-west Manhattan for awhile. (Additionally I was a street-level courier for many years.... I think I JUST MIGHT be familiar with NYC)

If I need some advice on headphone selection however (or Daniel Jones QB skillz lol ... credit where its due!) I'll shoot you a PM!

It is best to not build an argument on the basis of unfounded assumptions.

Yes I worked in Manhattan in part of my twenties and then also part of my thirties. Lived in Manhattan/Astoria just a couple years in total. About 10 years since my thirties I've lived just outside the city and it's half my social life, most of my dating life. I usually mass transit in but I drive in enough too. Just came back from riding around the city looking at peak bloom cherry blossoms for fun. I wouldn't pay these housing prices to not take advantage of it. I know some people do.

For some reason, I always remember @dphantom as the poster who argued ad naseum that lower-skilled workers should be forced to work for a fixed govt-mandated sub-subsistence wage until they can "improve themselves" without the slightest shred of self-awareness.
So I don't expect much.

I never claimed that the people advocating for gun bans, gun buy-backs, or gun confiscations believe that every single firearm will magically disappear. So, I'm not sure what fight you're fighting here.

I will go out on a limb and say that there won't be a "gun ban", any buyback program will fail to remove a meaningful amount of guns, and that confiscations will probably lead to a hot civil war.

Indiana passed a law allowing people to shoot at police entering their house or car illegally. Maybe all states should pass such a law. Police reform is needed. People should be free to own guns if they wish to provided they have proper training. Most gun crime is done with illegally owned weapons. This isn't a surprise. Most mass shooters are mentally unstable. Our current laws and policies do not allow enough screening to be done. Few people in this country could probably pick off a baddy from a ways away and end up shooting others instead.

Archery needs to make a comeback.

I mean, you kinda did...
Anyone who says that 400+ million guns are going to be "bought back", or even more hilarious, confiscated, is delusional.
No one has ever said that. You're making up an argument that no one else is claiming. Who is this "anyone" making this claim? That's what I am asking.
