Do you keep your receipts for all your purchases?

Like if you bought a new monitor or new hard drive, do you keep those for however long? Do you usually throw them away after the warranty time period expires?

They go into a big box with all my other receipts for the year.

So you do it yearly? I really haven't been keeping all of my receipts when I should have.

I keep receipts for everything I buy. I have receipts for car related items going back 20+ years. Most items I keep the receipts until the warranty period is over or longer if I fail to go through my collection often enough. It is always better to have a receipt and not need it than need it and not have it.

edit: Just read the first post. If the item has a warrenty, I keep the receipt.

I keep all my reciepts and trash them after about 3 years ><

i just have a plastic folder thing that i stuff them in. there is no real order to my madness, yet i have still been able to find any specific reciept i needed.

Yeah, i do. I have a folder for each year, and just toss it into that. I do a lot of business expenses claims as well, so it's needed.

only for large purchases (100+) and things i need to expense for work.

If your gear is covered by insurance you should hang on to your receipts as long as you keep it. Nice to prove that it actually existed.

i usually scan them and save them on a cd. throw the original away.

me too. you never know when you are going to need a receipt so i keep them quite awhile.
