Yeah, a good friend who got laid off. Did graphic design/layout for many years. Very tough for him, in his mid-50's trying for jobs that people right out of school will do for just over minimum wage.
Useful skills/knowledge. YOu should cone yourself.I am retired, past retirement age and have turned down jobs. Go figure
Sounds kind of like those working in manfacturing. Very tough for those in their fifties who got laid off and are trying to find work that those in China will do for just over slave labour wages.
Not involuntarily. I was unemployed from August 1st to December 28th last year and it was glorious.

Tough times for sure down that way. I watched a show about it.Yes, I know plenty. But my life and family is deep in oil country.

It's fun for awhile, till you start bouncing off the walls out of boredom.
I just read the official unemployment rate is down to 4.9%. I do not know any person who's involuntary unemployed. They're either stay at home moms or retired.

I think I may have to buy and sell drugs. Or sell my ass on the internet. But I suspect I wouldn't make much by whoring.
I imagine the older 50+ people who had great salaries are having a hard time finding a job. I know someone like that and I have to think age discrimination and their past higher salary have to be a huge detriment.
