My step-dad was stationed on New Guinea during WWII. He said you could tell how long someone had been there by the way they ate bread.

Newbies would pick the weevils out of the bread before they ate it.

Folks who had been there a while, just ate the bread, weevils and all.

Old-timers would go around and gather up the weevils the newbies had taken out of their bread...and add them to their own.

The list of things allowed in our food is amazing...and often, disgusting.

Just watched it again today. Anyway, I willingly ate thousand of weevils in my flour/pancakes when I was a kid. It's not like they were anything less than what they eat and lived in.
