I just ate some. Taste is good. Texture makes me gag. I eat it on toast which masks the texture.

I really like cottage cheese.

With some fresh ground pepper.

Edit: By the way, as a personal rule, I will only vote once per calendar year and only when I feel it is most appropriate. This was it.

One day when I was a young teenager I went swimming at a neighborhood park and got really hungry. For some reason I craved/ate cottage cheese and really liked it. So, yeah, I like cottage cheese. I don't often buy it, though. I don't buy much processed food. It barely qualifies as processed food, but it is processed milk.

Here's a great cottage cheese recipe I've made many times. It's delicious and on a scale of 1 to 10 for cheese cake recipes in terms of nutrition, it rates a 10:

German Cottage Cheese Cake

2 t. yeast dissolved in 1/4 c. water
2 T. sugar
2 T. butter or margarine
1/4 c. milk (don't add too much!!)
salt
1 1/4 c. all purpose flour
some cardamom (1/4 t.)

Mix the above and leave at room temperature covered for 3 hours or "until airy". Stir down. With floured fingers, press dough over bottom and half way up sides of lightly greased 9 inch cheese cake pan with removable sides. Set aside.

1 qt. blender smooth cottage cheese. Regular, lowfat or non-fat.
3/4 to 1 c. sugar (It is very fine with 3/4 c.)
3/4 c. all purpose flour
3 eggs
1 t. vanilla
4 T. melted butter or margarine (optional)
Some grated lemon peel and lemon juice

Pour these mixed ingredients into the doughlined pan. Bake about 1 hour in a 350 degree oven. Cool and chill. To rewarm, cover and bake 1/2 hour at 350 degrees, or microwave.

Remove pan sides. Can spoon about 3 cups sliced strawberries, peaches or nectarines (sweetened to taste) on top, but is excellent as is.

I prefer small curd myself, but yeah I love it.

But I grew up in dairy country to begin with, my father got me hooked on a few things growing up.

+1 to the fresh ground pepper.

It shouldn't be anywhere near lasagna, of course.

LIKE it? Not really.

Eat it from time to time with my wife (who really likes it)? Yes.

Use both for extra cheese.

Just say no to cottage cheese in lasagna

Should have Ricotta, Mozzarella, and Parmesan in between layers.

Preferably made buy a old school Italian sister-in-law who makes the sauce from scratch with sausage from an old recipe passed down.

(Well the wife isn't bad, I've assisted now and then myself)

People actually pay her to make extra every time she does stuffed shells also.

As a kid I was fed macaroni and cottage cheese rgularly. It was deliscious. Unfortunately it is a dairy product that gives me bad stomach aches as an adult, so I don't eat it any more.

Depends. If it's mixed into something like a shake or whatever, sure... but on its own, noooope.

Nope, can't stand it. But I found this interesting.

The first known use of the term "cottage cheese" dates back to 1831[1] and is believed to have originated because the simple cheese was usually made in cottages from any milk left over after making butter. The curds and whey from the Little Miss Muffet nursery rhyme is another dish made from curds with whey, but it is uncertain what their consistency was, if they were drained at all or how they were curdled (which affects the flavor). Some writers claim they are equivalent or similar

To put that into a date you could use. This was 30 years before the American Civil War.
