It doesn't matter. The logical leap from choosing not to eat foie gras on animal cruelty grounds and choosing not to use petroleum products on tin-foil-beanie grounds has already taken this discussion way off the deep end.

No need to fight over it - it made no sense to begin with.

You are terrible at debating. "tin-foil-beanie grounds"? HAHAHA.

Had it twice; the second time wasn't as fantastic as the first. I won't pay 20 bucks for it though. Too bad I didn't have it with a glass of Sauternes.

Yes, i do like it very well. It is not my very favorite food, but it is tasty, IF made properly.

I have not had it, and likely won't. I look at it like I do caviar and other expensive dishes........ as much as people rave about it, it all ends up in the toilet the next day.

I tried duck foi gras in the south of France and didn't like it. I'm going to Paris in 3 weeks, maybe I'll try goose foi gras.

Screw em, they crap all over the place so might as well fatten em up and eat their livers!

That's awesome!

It's good stuff, especially if paired with a fine Bourgogne red.

If you go to Paris, go to Fauchon (Madeleine subway station), buy some of their fruity fois gras (like strawberry foie gras), some bread , and the wine they recommend, then head to the Tuileries garden, and you can have a wonderful French meal under the sun.

It's good in Beef Wellington.

Edit: I don't want to join in the fray, but those who are abstaining on grounds of cruelty have never raised geese. They're the biggest curmudgeons on God's green Earth. Ornery, obnoxious, unsanitary, and indubitably less intelligent than many other creatures that cruelty is visited upon for being "pests" like rats or snakes. I wouldn't go out of my way to harm one for no reason, but if it makes a tasty meal I have no qualms about the suffering of a goose. Chalk if up to my place on the food chain I suppose, callous as it sounds.

texture-wise, Foie Gras is far different. Uni is mushy. Foie Gras is more like a slightly-harder tofu.

I love it. Unfortunately, I found out how they treat the geese who produce it and haven't eaten it since.
