Definitely a good thing to eat if you want a big greaseball of food - which is most of the time for me... One time recently I had a double bacon mushroom cheeseburger with a double side of poutine at a local greasy spoon called "The Blue Collar Diner" and almost had a heart attack all over the table.

In Toronto, one place sells bacon poutine. Check their menu.

<----- Canaidan ----> Never tried it. = Fail

One day I will. Got to loose some more weight first though, that stuff is pure fat. Anyone know any good places in Vancouver to get it when and if I do decide to have some?

I love poutine. It varies from place to place but I generally like it from anywhere.

Poutine — a mixture of French fries, cheese curds and hot gravy
Sounds fucking disgusting. I would have guessed Americans would have come up with something so revolting and calorie-dense first. Well done Canada.

What the hell is that? It looks like some drunkard drank a gallon of oil and some fries, vomited it up into a goats mouth letting it half digest then blending the goats stomach into a chunky greasy hairy mixture presented onto a plate 2girls1cup style.

I'm gonna go with NO, simply b/c I don't tend to think that food that must be eaten while blitzed is, in any way...good.

that being said, I've never had it, so I voted likewise. Will wait to see.

But it looks like vomit, I hate soggy fries and most gravy-in-a-plastic-tube foods, ....but I'll hold off until I find myself in the proper situation to judge effectively.

Poutine is what I dream and live for. At least once a week.

Some people put vinegar on their fries or even their poutine, but I rarely do. Actually it's kind of funny, if you go in a US fast food joint they don't even have vinegar lol.

There's a place in town that makes pizza poutine. now that is to die for, and it WILL kill you, slowly, but it's worth it. Knocks off the crappy elderly years anyway so it's all good.

(yes there's fries in there, somewhere)

shens.

you've never left your house, and we all know this.

Honestly, I've never eaten it. Just doesn't look appealing. You apparently have to go to Quebec to get the real stuff anyway.

Oh, and the vinegar and fries is an English thing. Brits traditionally don't eat fries (chips) with ketchup. Just salt and malt vinegar. You think that's gross, the Belgians and French eat them with mayonnaise. Tried it once out of curiosity. Won't do it again.

Mayo, ketchup and black pepper is ok for fries.

Never had it, but soggy fries are okay with me, so long as they are covered in either cheese or gravy.

For the record the fries are not soggy, if they are it's either been sitting too long or it was not done properly. Making a good poutine is a fine art. The fries need to be cooked just right so that they have a bit of a crunch to them, but not as crunchy as potato chips, the gravy plays a big role too, normally you want it very thick and rich in flavor. The cheese, you can probably put anything I would imagine... I personally preferred "Regular" vs "quebec" style. Regular, the cheese is melted more evenly, Quebec, it's curds. Some people even go "mixed" where it's both.

Negative. There is a good reason it's the official provincial food of Quebec -- because it's so goddamn tasty.

When you get Poutine done right, the fries are not soggy in the slightest. It's really unbelievably good.

How is "Quebec style" or whatever nonsense people call it not "original?" They invented it. Also, curds are the best.

Love it. NYC has an amazing Poutine place. I eat is rarely as it really is a heart attack on a plate, but when I do, I relish it.

I think originally that's how they made it, then when it got adopted more it got changed around. Like the one I shown, they just add tons of stuff to it. Bacon, sausage, peperoni, green peppers etc.

There's even places that make "Italian poutine" which is basically replacing the gravy with spaghetti sauce. I never tried it.
