I listen to AM Talkback radio everyday. Conservatives are hilarious. Their stupidity is highly entertaining.

No worse than the other side.

I usually listen to Walton and Johnson in the morning. After that I turn to hard rock and metal to keep me going the rest of the day.

I listen to NPR quite a lot on my drive to work, simply because I cannot stand the "music" that is played on the radio these days and I have not other means to get music that I like into my commuter vehicle.

I enjoy NPR's "non-headline" features and some of its programs (wait wait don't tell me; fresh air, etc.). I frequently do not agree with the opinions broadcast on NPR, particularly the political opinions, but that is ok.

I also enjoy a couple of morning drive shows, namely Toucher and Rich (sports talk out of Boston) and Elvis Duran (morning show out of NYC). Just for pure entertainment.

XM radio in both my work truck and my personal truck.
NPR as long as diane rhem is not on.

Yeah, Diane Rhem needs to retire. I really don't care about her age, but the pacing and tone of her voice is just awful.

I cannot understand how anyone can listen to that shit. It is no different than Fox News, in that it is just someone spouting their viewpoint.

I also don't understand how shock jocks can exist in this day and age. If I want to listen to music, I listen to what I like when I like it (Spotify).

So do you like AM/talk radio or shock jocks? If so, why?

Arent you the guy who stopped using soap/deodorant?

I've never listened to AM. I didn't even know they were still broadcasting on it.

I wonder if they make AM transmitters for portable music devices. I have an old car so I use an FM transmitter with my phone, but it's almost impossible to find a good frequency to use in the FM band because they majority of them are in use in my area.

It would probably sound like crap or be mono or something on AM though.

Its still the reliable default for emergency reporting.
Since not many people carry CB.

AM Radio is pretty much a cesspool for the reasons you describe. Dominated by far-right shock jocks who make up facts to fit a narrative.

Used to listen to WBBM over AM for news/traffic/weather in the car sometimes. Now they have an FM station which sounds better. Mostly though, I'm listening to CDs when I'm in the car.

I flip between NPR and our local sports radio station. They actually switched to FM a couple years ago which is really nice, no more cutting out whenever I drive under an overpass. The sports radio has occasional political or social commentary, especially on my drive home in the evening with Dan Barreiro. He's liberal but not crazy like Rush Limbaugh (probably because he's still a sports commentator first). He tends to take moderate positions on issues and is cautious about taking too militant a stance on something before he knows the full story. It's kind of refreshing; I just wish more people could be as reasonable.

I listen to CBC most days... Generally interesting programs and news... Even their lame programs are better than commericials, which is 70% of what other radio stations play. Fuck that, I will not listen to ads by choice.

listen to 670 the score from 1-6. its not your typical talk show

Boers and Bernstein are such assholes. Even when callers make good points, if they don't agree with them they flat out dismiss them and mock them, not even addressing the question and many times being deliberately obtuse. They are the only show on the score I avoid.

And yes, I do realize they get their fair share of stupid callers, but that doesn't excuse how they act to callers with valid well thought out points.

Yep. Some people think they are out of touch and should retire. I still find them amusing though they've really gone overboard with political talk since Obama was elected.

I'll listen to Gary Meier on 780AM in the afternoon. I am struggling to think if he actually takes a political slant really... He tends to pick a topic and let the callers have at it while not really taking a strong position either way.
