They probably could. As I understand it, gasoline itself is odorless, but something is added to it so that a person's nose can detect it. Same thing is done with propane.

Haven't gotten through the thread yet, but there's no way that gasoline is odorless. It is full of volatile aromatic hydrocarbons.

That would be like saying acetone is odorless.
