I love parts of it, hate parts of it. Overall I like my job and am glad I'm doing it. Sometimes it's a bitch though

I'll be able to tell you after 2 months starting from tomorrow. I start my new job tomorrow. Last job was boring but the people were great.

If I didn't have to work to live, I wouldn't. Don't understand people who would. If you love working, you need a better home life.

Depends on what you do for work. If your favorite hobby was nature photography and someone wanted to start paying you for your pictures are you saying you wouldn't accept the offer?

Even if I won the lottery tomorrow and I'd still do what I do because I love it.

I know a guy who keeps telling me "You have to do what you like."

So, if I want to be a synchronized swimmer, or the King of France, I'm pretty much screwed.

Some people enjoy what they do. I don't understand people who spend the majority of their lives doing something that doesn't interest them.

You can have both, and many people do.

I love what I do and love (most of) the people I work with. The pay could be better, but overall I'm pretty satisfied. Plus my 2 minute commute to work each day makes it even better.

From my experience (albeit limited), work has never felt like work until I started getting pissed at people, and dreaded having to get up for work another day. When it finally clicks in, it doesn't really matter whether you like it or not, you do it, and just keep going because it feels like some type of perverted 'home'.

Well, not really. It's physical work, 8 hours straight running up and down ladders, carrying around 50lbs.+ boxes, at a pretty brisk rate. But it is satisfying, and even though every day my body is beat to hell and I feel like passing out for a week, the fact that 5 of us do a job that really needs 9 or 10 is pretty nice. Plus management acknowledges how hard we work, not by supplying us with more help as we'd like, but a pat on the back is still good

I often work a 3 weeks kid summer camp for kids. I really enjoy that. The pay isn't great but it is very rewarding . This summer I helped a girl one step closer to overcoming her fear of heights. When I told her to grab my hand and I'd pull her up she gripped my hand like no tomorrow and I helped her up. Very cool.

If it paid a bit more and I could do it all year around I probably would. I'd also like to coach athletes but that generally doesn't pay or I'd need to make the right contacts.

My girlfriend is a pathologists assistant and loves it. I work as an editor and assistant editor in the entertainment industry and I can't see myself doing anything else. Most of my friends work in various parts of the industry (writers, directors, model makers, editors, etc.,) and love their jobs too. We all feel fortunate that we don't have to throw on a suit & tie and get "real jobs." My brother and his business partner are gonna open a K-9 kennel and training facility. My bro loves dogs and has wanted to open up his own shop for around 10yrs now.

Yeah... that means it's time to find a new place to work, my friend.

Are you married?

Nope. Long time gf though, but neither of us really want to get married. We're shooting for a Goldie Hawn/Kurt Russell type thing.

I was straying too far away from what I love to do, so I quit. Now I'm chilling out for a while, retraining myself in my former area of expertise. Luckily enough, my wife actually suggested this change.

I just hope that a good job pops up sometime within the decade.

So here's what I realized (a month and a half later ): I have one of those greater purpose jobs.

The day-to-day satisfaction I get from my job is only marginally positive...if that...The satisfaction comes when I step back and look at longer-term accomplishments and service. Still, I don't wake up every morning (or really any morning) thinking "Wow, it's gonna be a great day."
