and here I thought this was a thread about gary numan
Prog yes, Thrash no
Iron Maiden/Dream Theater next week? Maybe...
Went to the Iron Maiden concert Wednesday night, though I went for Dream Theater. Does that count?
My buddies up in Dallas were not that impressed with Maiden, said that they played almost all new stuff.
as long as it's not death metal, that screaming your head off shit, or growling shit.
There are a lot of people who feel that way, but personally I love death metal. Mikael Åkerfeldt is the man.

Well that's more prog-metal really and Akerfeldt sings as much, or even more now, as he growls.
Ever listened to Bloodbath? That's straight up death metal, no singing, but he's just as great as in Opeth. If you ever see him live it's amazing just how effortless he makes it look.
Good to know we weren't the only ones not impressed. After the fourth Maiden song we were bored and ready to go, but hung around so the daughter could enjoy her first concert a little longer.
Meh. I loved the thrash bands of the 80s and early 90s. Now it all sounds like one guy screaming while another does unspeakable things to a drumset. Where did the melody and intelligible lyrics go?
