What happens if you don't register your WinXP after installation? Could you still change/add new hardwares? Thanks.

XP home= yes.
XP pro=yes
XP corp=no

You can addand remove hardware as much as you want.

You have a set amount of time to use it,like 30 days, before it dis allows use until it is regestered.

You will not defeat it.

It looks to be a good OS upgrade if your hardware can handle it.

Hmm this seems backwards to my knowledge.. Corporate doesnt have Windows Product Activation whereas Home and Pro(retail) do.

Now i know registration and WPA are different, but registration is totally OPTIONAL in the Corporate version. I chose NOT to register my corporate version for privacy reasons and I've been running it WAY over a month without any problems..

To my knowledge registration has ALWAYS been optional and optional in all versions of XP.. the WPA is NOT optional for those of you who bought the home or professional versions..

And the statement "You will not defeat it " is ludicrous.. There is already multiple versions of cracked winXP home retail versions floating around the net where all you have to do is enter a serial number(provided with the download) and the WPA is completely bypassed..
The registration part is simply if you want to give MS your personal info for product updates/records and is completely optional.

You do not have to register XP, at all, ever.
If you are running a legal copy, you do have to activate it within 30 days.

Registration and Activation are 2 different things.

If you have a legit copy that you purchased through retail, OEM outlet, or a got it from a legit source(MS,Friend, etc.) activate it. There are mailing lists that have just as much information if not more then what you have to send to MS. I think the privacy issue is a total cop-out. What dont people want MS finding on their machine; porn, emails???? If MS really wanted to get to it, you don't think they would have already? We all have been running their O/S'es.

Maybe prices wouldnt keep going up on software if everyone purchased legit copies. You can't blame a business for protecting themselves even if it is Microsoft.

As stated already You dont have to register it..................
