Do you notice fat people at the gym have no self discipline?

A lot fat people use cardio machines for like 5 minutes and then stop. While normal people stay on one for 30-60 minutes.

How do they feel accomplished at doing 5 minutes of cardio?

Even thin people use the machines incorrectly. Those people on them for 30 - 60 minutes are often wasting their time.

Someone who is seriously overweight should also only be using something like the bike or the rowing machine.

At my peak weight, I could only do 5-10 minutes elliptical before I couldn't take it anymore.

I know it's crazy to think this, but sometimes things are harder for people that have more weight on them and are completely out of shape.

they have to take small steps. Can't have them running for 60 min if they haven't done that before.

I have seen so much gym fail it makes me hurt. Here are some examples:

Two skinny-fat girls cluelessly walk into power cage/squat rack (wahtever you want to call it) and attempt to squat 115 lbs and fail miserably with poor form. Probably did about two reps each. One walks over to the scale and exclaims "I lost one pound today!".

Very skinny/short guy trying to do DB shrugs and flailing his arms about and rolling his shoulders.

Fat people using the mats to "stretch" then watch their more fit friends do workouts.

Girls using the inner/outer thigh machine for a bajillion reps. Side note: stupid iso machine.

Cardio bunnies doing 45+ minutes of running/cycling/stair-stepping. You don't get in shape this way. DIET DIET DIET.

People in general lifting weights with poor form and likely not eating correctly. Lifting won't do much if you don't have your diet in check. Even ladies who have had a child and have their diet in check will look better than most skinny-fat ladies trying to "tone up".

Don't judge, it takes courage just to step into a gym. 5 mins at 1mph burns a lot of calories. I know this because they always hit the McDonalds across the street afterwards to replenish their energy.

Do you ever notice that judgemental thin people tend to not be able to do the simplest things like a proper squat and concentrate 95% of their workout on a dozen different variations of a curl

They feel accomplished enough that they go guzzle a large Starbucks after their 5 minutes of cardio.

The first time I went to the gym I was I able to do 15 minutes on the treadmill, 30 minutes on the elliptical and 30 minutes on the stairmaster. I am 5'11" and was 180lbs when I started. Now I'm down to 150lbs.

There is another dude at the gym I see all the time. I figured out his routine after going there for a few months:

Monday: Biceps
Tuesday: Biceps
Wednesday: Off
Thursday: Biceps
Friday: Biceps
Sat/Sun: Off

You almost tripped my emo switch with that bit.

Then, with the last line, you TOTALLY REDEEMED YOURSELF.

Yeah man...it makes me sad. Each time I see him he is curling. His arms are fucking huge and ripped, but the rest of him looks puny. He has zero chest development and zero leg development. It's actually sort of funny.

funny you mention this. I saw some fat girl with her skinny friend at the gym yesterday. The fat girl had some kind of sugary drink while on the tread mill. She didn't last for more than 10 minutes on the tread mill.

Good for you? I don't know what you are looking for here. A pat on the back or maybe a good old fashion " 'atta boy!"? 180 isn't all that heavy at 5'11". Loose an inch and go up to 260 and tell me how well you did after not stepping foot in a gym for 15 years.

Oh and of course the already anorexic girls lifting 2 lb pink DBs for 50 reps.

Sorry, I love people watching at the gym! So much funny stuff. I will say though that it is definitely an honor to watch the strong guys lift. I am not that big IMO and have a long way to go...so I really love talking to teh strong guys and getting some tips.
