What I have noticed is that the New Year's resolution people have fallen by the way side. About time.

Yeah, I hate how the gym is packed in January. That's the time of year when I don't want to run outside and all the machines are occupied by people who you know will be gone in a couple of months.

I have not noticed this. However, as an adonis with no need for a gym, I tend not to gravitate to where fat people gravitate.

At least they realize they have a weight problem and are trying to do something about it.

so let's make fun of them for trying to get in shape?

The truth is if they don't change their diet flapping around in the water for 15 min isn't going to help them any. I wouldn't/don't make fun of them for trying but sometimes I just want to sit them down and explain to them the reason they're not seeing the results they want is because they leave and consume 1000 calories on the way home.

I like to do 45 minutes on the elliptical, 15 minutes on the free weights, and then swim. Sweaty fatty in the pool!

And most normal people are on cardio machines but you still see a few fatties from time to time.

Isn't it obvious to you? Many types of physical activity are easier in water, so it's fat peoples way of convincing themselves that they are doing some form of exercise and losing weight when they actually aren't.

What annoys me is seeing a fat person lifting weights using some half-hearted movement that they obviously made up on the spot with no idea exactly what they are trying to accomplish rather than to "lift weights". It shows a lack of commitment that they didn't at least come prepared with a few exercises to try. I know I wasn't perfect when I started lifting weights, but I did some reading, picked some exercises that fit into some kind of overall plan, and managed to at least get a workout on my very first day. Some people you can just tell are going to just come in and "do stuff" for a while, get disgusted when they don't see results, and quit having never really tried in the first place.

Now, If I see a fat person doing anything that looks like they actually give a shit about whether they get something out of it, I applaud them. All the results they want will come from having that attitude, if not from the specific thing they happen to be doing.

That's because they can still get a cardiovascular workout without the heavy stress on their knees that jogging would produce. Making fun of fat peopel at the gym seems pretty mean spirited.

this.

OP is a douche.

I just hate to see people wasting their time. Not enough to actually say anything to them about it unless they ask me, of course. But if you really wanted something, wouldn't you put in enough effort mentally to know you were making steps toward acquiring it? These people are fooling themselves, and its sad to see.

because only fat people lift weights improperly? Dumb comment.

Seriously. If anything, I see the larger guys lifting properly because they tend to have greater base strength and so do lifts properly.

Skinny guys have no base strength and can't even do the basic movements properly.

Fatties in the pool barely swim. They usually do a lap and then rest 10 minutes / lounging around.

Fatties on cardio machines over do it one day and then give up and not come back. I see some fatties stay on the same cardio machine for more than 2 hours.
