I started chewing skoal when I was 15 , moved on to Copenhagen and quit when my son was born ( 37 ) . The last few years of chewing I would never spit. Only when it lost flavor. I would have Massive nicotine withdrawals if I ran out

My son is now 7 and I still have a noticeable scarring inside my lip. I say don't try it just like you would tell someone not to try smoking.

I've tried it before...
As far as it being "healthier" than smoking, that much is true...but it's still has significant health risks associated w/ it and is very addictive

I started with dip, one one can that lasted awhile, then moved to snus. Snus is so much better. Love the stuff.

Dude, oral cancer at age 35 is not something you want to experience. It is very addictive and horribly bad for you...not to mention it is perhaps the most vile, disgusting habit you could ever possibly have.

Yep. I basically did my research which showed that Snus > anything else out there in terms of health.

Basically all they found was that using Snus doubles your chances of getting Pancreatic Cancer, which is like going from 4/1000 (nonusers) to 8/1000 (users). All other forms of cancers, the risks were unaltered.

Much better than smoking, that's for sure.

That's why I ordered 5 cans for trial and see where it goes from there.

Yeah, I started when I was 17, and getting ready to go into the Marines. I was smoking at the time and I wanted to "clear my lungs" before I had to start runing on a regular basis. So I started chewing. In hindsight, after boot camp, I should have just quit after not having it for 13 weeks. But the very first purchase I made at the airport on the way back home was some Skoal.

14 years later and still having this bad habit burn a hole in my wallet. I dip mostly at work, and when I am driving to/from school. Man I need to quit, maybe tomorrow.

I think smoking is bad, both in the smell, the way it yellows walls and furniture and the health issues.
But dipping or chewing is just plain disgusting.
I live in an area where redman is a staple too

I started dipping when I was 13 during football practice because I was always tired after practices and most others on the team dipped.

It took me 18 years to finally get off of the stuff. When I quit I was doing 1 to 1 1/2 cans daily of Kodiak and in later years Red Seal (which was cheaper and gave you 25% more per can).

I have seen studies that suggest a can gives you as much nicotine as a carton of cigarettes.

I look and see the prices of it now and it is $5.00 - $6.00 a can. When I started(1992) it was $1.10 including sales tax.

Luckily I did not ending up losing any teeth but everytime I got a cold sore or any kind of irratation in my mouth, I was always worried that I ended up getting mouth cancer, and that is not a good feeling.

Very bad shit to do if you end up getting addicted.

I used chewing tobacco for 8 years. I quit 1 year ago last feb. I would do it all day, everyday, but just a little one. I could use 1 can for ~2 weeks. good way to keep a constant small unnoticeable buzz.

A couple of times. First time was while very drunk and with something common I believe (kodiak or such) and man was it completely awful.

One of my friends liked Redman on occasion, so I tried some of that and damn it was way, way better. Kind of liked it actually, thought about picking up a pouch of it, but haven't yet. I'm not sure what makes a chew like Redman so much different than Kodiak or Copenhagen mint flavor, but I wouldn't consider trying any of those again except something like Redman.

Tried it, didn't swallow a bit, did it proper, got real lightheaded then real nauseous. Would never do again. I hated it.

We still have the $5.29 for two can deal going on down here for cope. If I was paying $5/can, I'd quit. I pretty much only do it at work and if I go hunting or fishing. 1 can lasts me about a week.

same here but ours is around $7 for 2. Started a long time ago and probably need to quit but never will.

I think its 2 for 9$ actually, and thats on sale
