Some of those benefits are nice, but unless you travel 10+ times a year and stay in hotels all the time I don't see anything that justifies the yearly fee.

I can certainly see why a few certain people would want a black card, but it seems like a useless waste of money for most.

It seems to me that anyone who would really benefit from the card could easily qualify for it.

Yes. Someone I worked for.

"Black" cards (called different things by different companies) have been around since the 80s. Most of them include at a minimum $2,000,000 credit line, 24/7 concierge service, free air fare, free tickets to a ton of events and a few other things. My wife is a banker so I have heard tid bits about them here and there.

You can't apply for one, the company will offer one to you.

I imagine its a good card if you own a business and pass your expenses through it and can deduct the membership fees, or some similar situation. It'd be great considering the benefits are heavy on travel.

As a personal card, if you're putting millions through it every year just to qualify, you probably wouldn't flinch on separately buying the services it provides either. In that case, it's just to have for status.

I've never seen one in person, but I don't make/have millions
