Over the top. I've used the zipper while drunk/impaired, and it always ends up in pain. That's beside the fact that I wear belts 99% of the time which forces me to undo button/zipper/belt.

I go through the zipper since I am usually wearing the belt. Even when I am wearing briefs. Sometimes a pain to dig through a shirt to find the hole to pull my dick out, but it's still faster than undoing a belt. Occasionally, if I am not wearing a belt, I'll unbutton and unzip, but usually just the zipper still. Never gone over the top unless I'm wearing something with a stretch waist and no belt (ie: sweats / pajama bottoms).

If you get up during the night to take a wiz it is just easier to sit down and not turn on any lights... I think that's where it started for me. I don't do it all the time but it is definitely less messy.

Take a look at the floor in the mens room at work beneath the urinals. By the end of the day you'll be standing in piss. Do you think it is any less messy at home?
