Do you pick your finger/toe nails?

My fingers and toes look disgusting due to a nail picking habit. I bite my finger nails off, and pick my toes (although I'd bite them too if I was that limber).

I never knew anyone else picked at them and peeled them off. I've been doing it since I can remember and as a result it seems so normal to me. I've never bitten them though - I think that's nasty.

This is perfectly normal. I have naturally thick and reflective nails thanks to good genetics which means that I can grow them out, and as a result I must remove bits of scalp from them every morning after waking up.

I learned quickly when I was a young kid to not fuck with my nails. I used to dig out the corners and scrape, cut and bite them. I had 2 major ingrown toenails as a result on my foot that required doctor intervention. I also had several ingrowns on my fingernails that my dad had to fix with a needle and scissors. I'm quite conservative now when I do clip my nails and make sure to not venture into the corners (I learned what causes ingrowns and avoid that behavior).

Otherwise, I still have a wierd OCD behavior about my nails. I cant stand dirty nails, accumulated dead skin and cuticles. I get terrible bleeding hangnails if I dont take care of my cuticles. I still pick at them, clean them, keep them proper length and push back my cuticles. I obsess about them to keep them healthy and haven't had an ingrown since I was a child.

I remember borrowing one of those from a female friend on a field trip to some boring museum back in high school. I spent the whole day giving myself a manicure, it was oddly satisfying.

Interesting, though I think it may be genetic. I pick even into the corners and sometimes pull it out so much that it bleeds and I've never had that happen in all my years.

I do the same, but I've had ingrown nails before. But I never let one get so bad that I had to go to the doctors I simply rip it out myself. It hurts a bit but the relief makes it worth it.

I'm joking of course; I learned the hard way to not bite (ie ripping off a string of flesh while pulling off a fingernail), so I always keep a pair of nail clippers handy nearby anywhere I go, precisely because I know I have the habit of ripping off fingernails and don't want to injure myself.
