I drive a V8 and you'll feel the smoothness of the V8 once you pass 80MPH. Of course my wallet pays the price for driving a V8.

Other than the fact that I wish it had more power, I'm quite happy with the V8 in my car.

Seeing as my Monte Carlo SS has been in the shop, I have been driving my parents Mustang GT, and I prefer the V6.

I'm pretty sure the V8 in the Monte is a piece of crap, as far as V8s go.

the monte has a V6

Oops. I'm having an off day.

The newer Monte Carlo SSs (is that how you pluralize that?) have a 5.3L V8.

ill drink V8 anywhere, not just in my car... =P

seriously, i prefer a V8 but some cars just dont need it. in my truck? hell yes. its not a truck without it IMO

Trucks only need six, but they need to be the right six

nah, i am talking about my preference. i dont like the smell or sound of diesels so id still prefer my 318cu over that 6. ive driven trucks with 4, 6 and 8 cyl before (mainly in a work environ) and i still prefer my v8 over the others. doesnt that engine have a few defect reports attached to it also?

me? My Dakota is v6, but I bought it used that way and it does the trick. However, I want the Dodge Challenger that is coming out next year. My plan? Get the SRT model that will come with the obvious 6.0+L V8, and get it used about 2 or 3 years after that model is released. Plus, if all goes to plan, I'll have been shipped out somewhere and won't have any use for it till I'm home anyhow.

Sadly, your V6 Dakota doesn't get better gas mileage than the 5.2/4.7 V8 ones do.

edit - Added poll...

What for and which one? There are V6's out there that have better power delivery than some V8's, so the V6 would be the preference in that case, for example.

I'm pretty sure you're wrong. The 5.3L V8 in late model Monte Carlo's & Impala's is based on the LS-series of motors you find in F-bodies, GTO's, and Corvette's. It is cheap, reliable, and torquey as hell. Cheap to upgrade as well.

I drove an Impala SS with the 5.3l V8 and while it definitely had more torque than say my V6 Maxima it didn't feel all that quick. It certainly had a lot more torque steer though.

I  my VQ (Nissan V6). Only car with a V8 I've driven was an F-150, and I sure as hell couldn't imagine driving a truck with anything smaller, save for a NISMO Frontier .

I would be perfectly happy with a 7.0l, naturally aspirated, hemi head V8 engine in a car that weighs 2500lbs. (Super Stock A-Body)

I can get 30mpg out of the 1900lb 4 banger. What kind of gas mileage you get out of your car?
