do you race your car?

There must be some kind of logical explanation. This rant/thread is car-related. First of all, if you don't know much about cars (like me), you should probably not comment. That's what I usually do when I don't know much of what I'm talking about.

OK, anyways. There are two cars in this scenario. Both are old slushbox rustbuckets. One is an 88 Ford Tempo 2-door, 4-cylinder (sorry, don't know any more specs), and the other is a 4-door 4-cylinder Honda Accord, the model is that of '92+, I'm unsure of the actual year. I know it isn't any newer than 93 or 94. The driver claims it's a 91, but I'm very familiar with specific years of Hondas and how they look, and I know for a fact that it's impossible that his car is a 91.

Anyway, I think that we can assume that mechanically the Accord is superior, right? So it should in fact boil down to who is the better driver, and if everything is in order with the car, right? First let me just tell you that the driver of the Accord put "Racer" matts on the floor and a "racer" steering wheel... Must make it go faster

So what we wanted to do was just have a little race for fun. My friend and I in the Tempo were just laid back, fully expecting to lose. I might add that the Tempo was auto while the Accord was standard. It took us a while to both get to a red light side by side. Eventually we did, though. Another thing I might add is that they did not check to notice the "50" limit and the sign that said "Radar" on it. So we came to the light, and of course the Accord driver is already making a fool of himself, that's cool, a good laugh for us.

The light turns green. My friend somehow manages to fvck up, giving too much gas (somehow being bad.. again, I don't know what I'm talking about). Regardless, we fly by the Accord. The Accord driver is ludicrously shifting like a monkey on crack (er..yeah...). So we reach the speed limit in no time, so he eases off and just sticks around the speed limit. Then the Accord flies by us at 2-3x the speed. Yay. And they think they won! They thought it was from one light to the other, whoever gets there first wins. That's not what we were doing.

So do you understand? It's called a misunderstanding. One person thinks THIS, and another thinks THAT. Well, apparently the Accord driver is too insanely and utterly brainless to realize that fact. So he boasts and brags and makes a fool of himself! Going fast isn't indicative of driver skill, and is also stupid, since it was a 50 zone and he was probably going 110. Another note, he didn't have his wallet. Therefore, no drivers licence + registration! :Q

1) Speeding
2) Driving without licence and registration
3) U-turns
4) Taking forever to start once you come to a stop

The list could go on. These things are all part of what makes somebody a bad driver. Does anyone disagree on this? My friend who was driving, didn't speed through yellow lights, didn't turn when he wasn't allowed, didn't do u-turns, etc, and didn't blast past the limit.

One thing I do not understand about people who can't drive sticks. Why not? I've driven it a couple times (don't have my licence, hence I don't drive much!). I stalled the first time I tried. You know why? Because I had no idea what to do. Nobody told me... so I had no clue. After it was explained to me once, I did it, and it was fine. So I drove around, and it took a couple minutes to kinda get the hang of it. But overall it's quite very simple. You hit the clutch, change gears and let go. What's so complicated there? Why do people take like 5 seconds to go from 1st to 2nd or whatever.. ? Why is it that when that dude came to a stop sign, he would come to a complete stop, wait there for a couple seconds, and then slowly start again, THEN accelerate really fast? IMO, that's incredibly stupid.

Ok, I'll stop ranting about it now. You can let us know your thoughts on this. I'll mention more when I think of it.

Oh yeah, I just remembered a bunch of stuff he was saying about turbochargers, nitrous oxide, adding HP, etc.. rotf.. too funny. He thinks some small thing he got put in his car added like 40hp? I didn't bother looking under the hood but while riding I asked him to 'show me' what it did. He was going about 100 (kmh) and he said it kicks in at about 105.. well, he went all the way up to 135 and I didn't feel anything. ha... and he tried to say that hitting 'this button' which was cruise control, made it go faster..

blah..

um, the 91's and 92's look VERY similar. like they are basically identical. the 90's looked slightly different (motorized belts, etc). Anyway, you can check by looking at the sticker on the driver's door frame. but the accord should have completely destroyed the tempo. that was one terrible driver.

i consider a shift that takes over 0.5 seconds to be a goofed shift.

Nope. The 90 and 91 Accords look identical and the 92 and 93s look identical. The biggest difference is that 92-93s have different tail lights than the 90-91s.

I own two cars, one of which I don't race [very often], and one which I do. The one that I seldom race is a modified BMW M635CSi (grey-market import). The one which I do race is a modified Lotus Elise 190R Sport.

I use to drive my Saturn fast on the highways...that was until I threw 2 of the four pistons in the engine and now have to spend 700+ on a used engine

Me and a friend are gonna take my Dak and his Elky to the track on test and tune night when he finishes getting his new engine built (283 SB that'll spin about 8500 RPM). I know I'm gonna get wasted, but it'll be fun
