Do you regret making the upgrade to Win10?

Thinking there should be enough people who have made the change to Win 10. Are you sorry you made the change?

Not at all. I have 7, 8.1, and 10 all on separate drives in a mobile rack. I can choose the one I want, and that does not interfere with the others.

I didn't regret it, but I'm no longer running it. I put it on one of my hard drives just to become familiar enough to work on computers that have it installed. Certainly no expert at this point but I feel like I can trudge around enough to repair one now.

I definitely do not approve (as if that matters) of what MS is doing so far as data mining in Windows 10, nor do I like the fact they are backfeeding those processes into Win7 and 8/8.1. At least one can uninstall those updates when they are identified.

Some folks here think that is all very well and fine, they are wrong. If you try to correct/stop that data mining in Windows 10, you will wind up with an OS that is inferior to both 7 and 8.1 (I think it is irrespective of that effort, but I'm not impressed with built-in apps at all). A computer's base operating system should not come with spyware built in.

I do on my Surface Pro 3, in fact I went back to 8.1 through a factory restore.

I have a Dell XPS 1810 touchscreen computer that Windows 10 runs fine on.

I just wish they had developed an optimized Surface Pro 3 image because it runs like a dog on this machine.

I have it on my gaming rig. Runs fine.

I was just reading some nerd comments a few minutes ago about Surface Pro 3 vs iPad Pro on another site and I figured iOS probably ran a lot smoother than a full blown windows would when it came to tablets.

No, I don't regret it, but I don't yet see a reason for doing so.

As Underclocked referred to, there are quite a few things I had to remove/adjust to get the data mining turned off. I even made a thread about it. I don't mind doing things to "tweak" it to just the way I want it. I don't like tweaking an OS to get it to do something it shouldn't be doing in the first place.

On my laptop, it does exactly the same things that Windows 7 did, and some things are ridiculously more complicated to do now. The only reason I am glad I got it is the possibility of a longer life, but I am prepared to restore to 7 if that doesn't work out.

I'm using it on my main computer, after a great deal of adjustments for better privacy. I have no real complaints about it there, but I had to revert to Windows 7 on my backup computer that also serves as a gaming computer for my nephew. I couldn't get the second SATA controller drivers set up properly, then I realized that half of the games installed on that computer no longer worked, so, back to 7 it went.

I like it better than 7 and 8.1 and I have absolutely no regrets about moving my 3 machines to it.

I tested it for about a week. Kept getting unexplained BSD. Re-imaged back to 7. All is well again. Until I see a game use dx12 that I really want to play I won't be using windows 10. And even then it will only go on my gaming machine.

Haven't loaded my alternate drive in about 3 weeks. That's because a few items need attention and I just can't be bothered when W10 bring nothing I want.

Yes I did. Reverted back to the image of 8.1 that was made prior to the "upgrade".

I do not like all the data mining...

The whole data mining thing seems....overblown.

As for the Surface Pro 3, I've played with 10 a bit on one, seemed to be OK for me. What ran slower?

Actually having a machine with the update on it send it to other pc's on the network is intelligent. It keeps the MS servers from resending files that have already been sent and speeds up getting updates locally. I'd say that they learned something from bittorrent and deploying updates in a similar fashion is smart.

Best to do a clean install after upgrade if you get BSODS.

Personally done two upgrades from 8.1 to 10 with no issues, still waiting for my first crash, games and software all working great, stability is excellent so more then happy with the upgrades on both of my PCs.

I'll say who needs 7?..Win10 and Linux covers all my needs.

I updated to win 10, but it has a few issues with some programs. I saved the image and went back to my win 8.1 image.

I have done it on my home/gaming machine and while I don't like a lot of the data mining that is does,
I'm ok with it on there as it is 99% used for gaming primarily, have not put it on my work laptop yet.

My work laptop is currently dual booted with win 8.1, and I am still 98.5% of the time in 7

I don't really regret it, but I'm wary of what it does so I install it on certain systems and am leaving Windows 7 on other systems with important files. Just me being a bit paranoid, however it's a bit annoying as to how Microsoft is pushing telemetry updates to 7 and 8/8.1 now- hopefully 7 Ultimate and Enterprise aren't affected.

I don't regret it on my laptop my nettop SFF computer. Why? Because those things were quite slow, and Win 10 rejuvinated them. Feel much more responsive now.

However, my main desktop actually has a reasonable CPU and doesn't need the Win 10 speedup, and after using Win 10 on those other machines for a while, I've decided I'm just going to leave the desktop on Win 7 for now.

The Win 10 speedup is really nice, but the OS overall feels unfinished, and an odd mix of disparate UI styling.

And I still cannot use the Win 10 interface to create new users. It's just broken on my two machines. I have to use a command to get back the old admin user interface, since they removed it from the Control Panel too.

The only problem with Win 7 is that it doesn't support the touch frameworks, so if I remote to it, I won't be able to interface with it on my tablet properly. However, it's moot anyway, since my Win 7 is Home, not Pro.

No. I still have the occasional glitch where I click the notification center, or clock, or volume, and nothing pops up until I hit the windows button and everything pops and closes. Not sure what is up with that but that's the only glitch I've noticed, which I would hope they'll fix. For all I know it could be caused by some leftover issue from my 6 year old Windows 7 install I upgraded from (I had an issue with broken indexing caused by that which was an easy fix).

No regrets. It was a little bumpy at first, but all three of our machines are on it and they're all fine. Now that Saitek has fixed their drivers for it, I have no issues to report at all.

Yes I know. It was a clean install.. It was bluescreening my PC at least once a day until I got fed up with it and put win 7 back on.

I tried it on my win 7 laptop, and it was slower so I went back to 7. Also, I was disappointed with the spyware, and now it has moved backwards to 8 and 7. I did try it on a spare laptop I had with 8.1, and it was just as fast with 10. So in a nut shell, I tried it and did not like it. Linux may be in my future when 7 expires and 8 expires.

Not at all. The HTPC I installed it on as a trial has virtually no software or data on it, so I could easily blow it away and revert within half an hour if I wanted to.

That said, I don't like what I've seen so far so I won't be upgrading any of my "real" computers.

Could be anything from driver issue to something more serious, I would of checked Event Viewer and Reliability History for any issues.

As you know BSODs like that are not normal in any modern OS like 7,8,10 etc...

I think that I'd run memtest and the drive manufacturers test suite before blaming the os. I love 10 and will never go back to the older os's.
