Yep. Same here. Still remember the classroom and TV up on the video cart they wheeled in. Not good.

We didn't have that many TV's in the building, so we all piled in the hallway, sat on the floor with a TV on a cart and watched it live.

I remember the rest of the day the mood of the school was sad and somber, the teachers were in no mood to teach.

Yep. I was working as a deckhand on a Chesapeake Bay skipjack. I remember I had the day off. Since it was a Tuesday it must have been blowing, or we would have been out. I had a room in a boardinghouse in Sherwood, MD and had gone back to bed, woke up when I heard a commotion downstairs where they had the TV on for the launch.

In class in 5th grade. The principal or teacher wheeled a tv into the classroom on a cart so we could watch the newscast.

Working on a construction job in the middle of NoWhere, Wyoming. Heard about it from one of the truck drivers who had a radio in the cab of his truck. Saw it on TV that night when I got home. (more or less the same scenario as the 9-11 attacks...heard about it from someone who had a radio, saw it that night)

I was coming out of class at FSU in Tallahassee, freshman year. Someone mentioned it and as I was walking back to my dorm to watch the news, I swear I saw the entrails in the sky (though I later learned that was unlikely/impossible).

it was a snow day.
I was home and watched it live on TV

At home sick. Watched it live on TV. I was 9. Naive enough to think I could see the explosion if I ran out in my front yard and looked at the sky (which I did).

Sad day.

I was in cocoa beach with major nelson. I watch the shuttle take off not from the ground but from my vantage point you can see the aircraft with the bright booster rocket flame and the smoke trail. Then we heard a sonic boom, weird or unusual smoke trail then just stare from other onlookers. Then confirm by the radio 10 minutes later. Very somber day.

Okay so major nelson is BS. The rest is true.

The space shuttle was was a big deal back then. It was an even bigger deal for this flight as a teacher (Christa McAuliffe) was going up in space. Many students including myself got to watch it live on tv in school.
