...in your address book/contact list?

A friend (and former neighbor) recently died. I still have her in my contact list, though I will probably delete the entry soon.

It took me a couple months to remove my uncle who passed away last year.

Do you have any dead people still in your address book/contact list? If so, why and when, if ever, do you plan on removing them?

Yes, I have some family members who have died in my address book. I also have some emails which I read every once in a while. It comforts me.

Well, I basically do not delete substantive e-mails anyway, so I have many e-mails from people who are no longer with us, including my friend and my uncle.

i did. but too her off.

a friend of mine died last summer. I didn't think of takeing her off facebook. UNTIL her family started posting shit like "kallie needs new shoes! can someone send us a donation?" or "kallie wants a bike!" and shit like that.

her husband didn't notice that his family was doing it. i found it tacky to beg for donations.

I have had a couple in my contact list, but I have deleted the info shortly after finding out they were no longer available to take my calls/emails.

Only when I go down into the basement... which is less often once they're dead since I don't need to feed them anymore.

One of my best friends' mom died and I went to the funeral yesterday. I fired up my IM this morning and noticed that her IM is still logged in.

I removed her from my buddy list - it seemed creepy to still see her there.

Nope, I cut off contact with people long before they die. First sign of illness they're dead to me because I don't want to have to visit them in the hospital.

One of my other uncles died 3 years ago this past May 24th and I still have him in my contact list.

My mom died this past Mother's Day (May 8th), and I have no intention of removing her from my contact list, at least for now.

Sorry to hear about your mom.

Just noticed the other day I still have my grandma in my list. She died last year.

I feel for you. My grandpa passed the same day. His mother's birthday was also that day. Pretty weird, but somehow comforting at the same time. My grandma and grandpa were always 'Grams and Pa' to me - and that's exactly what they're named in my contact list. Just because he's gone doesn't mean I'll edit it to just 'Grams'. It will be difficult to delete the entire contact once she's gone. Though judging by the health she's in and the activity level she has, that's a long ways down the road.

My uncle died 3 years ago on my mom's (his sister's) birthday.

My grandma and grandpa also died in May (in the 1970's and 1980's, respectively), so every member of their 4-person immediate family died in May - weird.

At least your recurring annual PTSD-grief is concentrated within ~one month.

Sucks to have it stretched out for an entire season. :\

So far my friend and my dad died, I think I removed them a few days afterwards. Basically, as soon as I noticed I removed them.

My mom had the same phone number for 56 years. My sister lived there the last few, and she recently dropped the landline and ported it over to her cell. That's kinda weird sometimes.
EDIT: Cousin is living at her Mom's house, same deal over 50 years. Same funny feeling calling that number now.

I have my dad's pic and contact info on my smartphone. Transferred it from the prior phone. After I got my first phone with a camera, I visited him. Showed dad the phone, and asked permission to take his pic. Thought dad would refuse, but he said okay. He gave me a big smile. The next day I got a call that he went into a coma. The following day I was with him when he died.

I never think about deleting his contact information. Not creepy to me.

That's pretty cool. My dad and I were shopping the day he died, and he got a new costco card. Looking at that picture, I could not believe I did not notice how he was doing
I got rid of that picture right away.
