Where is "I was a full blown addict, but quit."?

I quit over two years ago.

I'm down from 1 1/2 packs a day to 2-3 cigarettes a day. Plan cutting it out altogether except for when I go to the bars maybe.

2 packs a day and blowing smoke in the faces of people who act like it's a sin to light up in public.

I don't like being a smoker but quiting is very difficult(i've tried a few times), and my nerves like the nicotine.

For those who have never or don't smoke, don't tell anyone how easy it is to quit, and to those who have smoked and quit, congratulations, but don't act like you are god and everyone should be able to do it, you may just not have as much of an addictive personallity as some people.

Nobody wants to be smoking. Can you think of anyone who says "man, is there any way I can get me a habit I can't stop that could possibly kill me?" Usually we start as kids and are addicted before we a old enough to know better.

What gets me most is the raising of cigarette prices constantly. If you add up the amount that is paid right now in taxes on cigarettes, and then factor in the realization that only a small amount of smokers get any smoking related illness that requires medical attention, you will realize that we are getting reamed. You non-smokers act like you know that you are paying for our hospital bills for smoking related illnesses, well, you certainly are not. If you added the amount we pay in taxes, you'd see that we pay billions more than we will ever actually need. Most smokers do not die of a smoking related illness, but the government would like you to believe we do so they can get approval to have our cigarettes taxed some more. It really pisses me off. GRRR!!!!!

I smoke socially on a regular basis, but I'm not addicted.. I could quit whenever I felt like it. I've gone days, weeks sometimes even months without smoking and never had any withdrawal (sp?) symptoms.

Can't stand the smell either. Imagine what it does to your lung, people around you and everything around you. Ever been to a used car lot, got in one car and you passed one because it stunk so bad of cigarette?

That sucks about the price.

Anyhow, I really don't care about this stuff for now. It's your way and I don't care if you smoke. The only reason I hate cigarettes is the second hand smoke. Guaranteed to make other people's hair and clothes stinky. California did a good job outlawing smoking in public place. It's not about smoker's right. It's about nuisanes to people around you. You surely wouldn't want me to do something that emits strong odor next to your table at a restaurant such as finishing my project board using strinkiest markers possible do you?

Not to even mention that those billions from the settlement were suppose to be payback for all the money spent by the state on ?smoking related?( WTF does that mean anyway ) illness. So where did the state get the money it supposedly spent. Your taxes anyone? So now they got the money back and your share was returned to you when?(In your Fing dreams). It all has gone to just about anything not to do with smoking or health issues.

Some states are even now using it to try and balance the general budget funds. Makes sense to depend on a hopefully declining ( they do want us to quit don't they? ) source of income to run your state.

Suppose all tobacco companies said "your right we're going to stop making this nasty product. How fast do you think all states and the fed could find some excuse to keep all that tax money flowing. HYPOCRACY at its finnest.

Enough; I'm really getting into rant mode.

veryape is on target.

I smoked 1 -1 1/2 packs / day for about 6 years.

Now, I don't smoke every day, but probably light up on a day or two per week in the evening for 1-5 cigarettes on those days.

I've smoked once. That was on my 16th Birthday to try and see it was about. Before that I've been offered cigs many many times but didn't take up on it. But today I was in the pub on my 16th and was offered and this time I tried it. I tried it, didn't cough or choke but didn't think it was anything. So from then on I've never had a smoke on a cig EVER. That was more then 2 years ago.

I'd rather spend my money in other ways thankyou! For me I felt its SUCH a waste but I don't smoke so I don't know what others feel about it.......
