<< I guess I'll have to trust your opinion. The word itself, "smoking," just connotates bad images. Why would anybody want to inhale smoke? How is that satisfying? Blecch... >>
I am glad you have highly negative images of smoking. It really is bad for you. BUT if it was all bad, then no one would smoke. I found it satisfying in several ways.
1) nicotine is quite relaxing to my body
2) the process of smoking was somehow enjoying. i.e. inhaling, exhaling... Though that could very well have been a learned association from positive reinforcement
3) the social aspect of smoking with other people were pleasing
4) smoking and playing golf is very pleasurable, highly contextualized smoking behavior... i know other poeple who have said the same thing about driving and smoking, drinking and smoking, sex and smoking, ect....
anyways, just my 2cents. Understand that quitting is more than just beating a physical addiction, it is also be willing to give up the pleasurable aspects fo the habit.
