Once in awhile socially. I have yet to purchase my own pack, and intend on keeping it that way. I still have a cigar I picked up in Vegas last year on vacation, but never had the time to light up.

I've never smoked before, and I never will. Why people start in the first place is beyond me. Being young and stupid is not a good excuse, either. Common sense SHOULD have taken over.

That stupid second hand smoke gives me headaches, too. :disgust: Good looking women smoking is such a turn off as well. :disgust:

at school i smoke about one or two Newports a day. But once i'm home I can't smoke cause my parents can't know it's been pretty good so far but sometimes i just wish i had a cigg.

"' don't want to be, but I am addicted'

Same here. I'll admit im scared to quit!"

Luckster, didn't you say you were in a 'program' (for lack of a better word) to quit?

Anyway, to answer the question: No, I do not smoke. Smoking is a nasty and expensive habit. I don't want anyone who smells cigarette coming near me. Ewwww! :disgust:

I'll smoke a cigar socially but rarely. Only if its a night of heavy drinking. Maybe 3-4 times a year.

yeah, but people don't always act rationally. Humans are motivated by emotions, not reason. If you want to understand why people smoke I suggest you consider other reasons than logic and common sense.

I smoked for a while, and I admit I really enjoyed many aspects of it. Smoking is quite satisfying at times. However, I decided to quit b/c I didn't like the health effects.

I guess I'll have to trust your opinion. The word itself, "smoking," just connotates bad images. Why would anybody want to inhale smoke? How is that satisfying? Blecch...

I am a full blown, pack-a-day guy, I hate the smell, the feeling in my throat in the morning. Smoking is one thing which makes absolutely no sense. Why would someone wanna do that to themselves? I know its a good feeling, but jeez, death doesnt feel that good (I imagine). I'm quitting soon (as soon as i get married, I will never smoke another cigarette.) later.

I am glad you have highly negative images of smoking. It really is bad for you. BUT if it was all bad, then no one would smoke. I found it satisfying in several ways.

1) nicotine is quite relaxing to my body
2) the process of smoking was somehow enjoying. i.e. inhaling, exhaling... Though that could very well have been a learned association from positive reinforcement
3) the social aspect of smoking with other people were pleasing
4) smoking and playing golf is very pleasurable, highly contextualized smoking behavior... i know other poeple who have said the same thing about driving and smoking, drinking and smoking, sex and smoking, ect....

anyways, just my 2cents. Understand that quitting is more than just beating a physical addiction, it is also be willing to give up the pleasurable aspects fo the habit.

smoking is incredibly satisfiying for me. i dont mind the taste at all, and after a hard day of classes and work, a shot of nicotine is just what i need.

One point. Lots of the people who are disgusted by the thought of someone inhaling smoke, think nothing of sitting down to a juicy steak. Just as dangerous.

Nope, grew up with a Dad that smoked and always hated getting trapped in the car with him smoking. Plus I do a lot of cycling and other aerobic stuff, so I try to be nice to my lungs. I do enjoy the occasional cigar tho...very nice after a big meal or while on the golf course.

You have to be either kidding or just totally delusional.
